Get in touch with the employees that actually make the company run day to day. Realize that a rail job isn't the lucrative job that it was 30 years ago. Lots of other jobs in the world the pay better, have better benefits and a far better quality of life.
Hiring people who have done the job, not some guy off the street that doesn't have a clue..
The pay is pretty good
401K matching PLUS additional in lieu of pension
railroad retirement is the best out there
I will say, the benefits and healthcare with the railroad are fair
Review from Engineering Dept
Health care and retirement are the best
Treated like a number and not appreciated
Yes undervalued is an understatement. Wage increases comparable to local trade wages
Settle the contract. We haven't had a raise In three years. And when the class 1 railroads met with the unions to discuss the contract they said no raises and Healthcare would double. No that's truly a slap in the face of any employee
Health benefits are the worst for management. If you are union labor you have far better and cheaper benefits. Up to 4% raises (many didnt get that much) when COL increased 8%. Bonus program needs to be true profit share. Now its whatever the executives decide. No accountablity to it.
Underpaid and no sick time us vacation time take to long to get
They know how to do their job
Review from Operations Dept
Focused on the right things
Ability to work as a group, and their skill level.
They lesson and care about you
We know our jobs well and trust our coworkers to work safley, but their are some bad ones you try to avoid.
Cut worthless meetings and be prepared when there are meetings
They need leadership who can step up and hold people accountable and more compensation
Communication must be better at times
At first I thought they were jerks, now I know its a mixture of no sleep, no family time, and a few jerks
Having managers/CEO's be honest would he a great start. Most people dont appreciate being lied to and stolen from. They violate our agreements daily.
Vision and values is effective
The heritage that goes back 170 years and the fact that what we do matters. Communities depend upon us.
I really dint think there is the culture has gone diwn hill in the last few years. Weve been without a contract for 3 years
Not much, leadership has killed anything positive
Safety safety,Don't take time off.Shareholders are upset at record profits.
Direct expectations across the board for all workers on all levels!
Focus on appreciating the workers
Everything need to change and quickly
Settle a good contract for the employees. Take care of the employees as they are getting hard to find and train. Care for the locomotives as they move the things that make your profit. Safety needs to be reinstated
Leadership, leadership, leadership. Have more qualified leadership
Conversing with important decision makers
The company informs you of the positives and negatives before your testing/interview.
Passing the initial sociological test
Concerned with me as a person
It was just well rounded. It was ten years ago so I can't remember much about it
Treat your employees better and you wont have problem hiring anyone. Wors got out you treat us like trash and its affecting your hiring process.
Start with telling the truth
Let the union’s do the interview
Review from Operations Dept
To much nepotism and good ole boys club

The ability to work without supervision.
We have a good future
Work life balance and helping customers
Bring moral up any way you can. Stop chasing profits for now and plan how to retain profitability for the future
Berkshire Hathaway seems to be gutting BNSF to increase profits its scary
More employees, and more reliable equipment in order to compleat the jobs.
Understand that the employees make the money not just cost money
A shipping company that doesn't ship
The people I work with and a select few managers.
Review from Operations Dept
Work life balance, the executive team is hell bent on reducing head count by changing policy to require employees to work more every month and disciplining us for spending time with family on holidays.
