My experience since SJVC acquired Carrington has been awful. Individuals have made days easier, but leadership has decreased my benefits and denied me benefits that were rightfully mine.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Local recognition of students. Local recognition of staff
What are some of the best things about your team?
Hard working and enthusiastic people help morale. We like to thank each other and recognize a job well done. A small thank you goes a long way.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
I'm alone in my program. I have been alone for years and am expected to function like a program director and be paid like an instructor. I am not a unique story. This situation is company-wide.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Return our benefits to us. Pay us the 401K matching at a competitive rate. Do not expect management level duties from and instructor that is not paid as a manager or given the title of program director. Stop putting people that are unqualified in our field in charge of our program reviews.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Benefits, clear roles and boundaries. Do not call instructors "Lead Instructors" and treat them like program directors when they are not and aren't paid like they are. Contribute to 401K. The average matching in our area is 6%. You haven't given us the "up to 2%" that we were told was on the table.
