Providing actual coaching that leads into growth, compensating fairly based on skillset required to perform the job, clarifying job description so expectations are managed and uniform across all levels.
Being present and available when needed, leading with integrity, nurturing and tapping into existing talent, documenting unacceptable behavior from the beginning, taking full responsibility and stepping in when issues have escalated into requiring management intervention, stop gossiping
Management needs to act as one managing body and must make themselves available when issues arise. You'd be hard pressed to find a manager available when they're needed to intervene. Favoritism is rampant and gossipping is a way of life.
Listen to your employees. Speak to them and address the issues they bring up. Treat everyone professionally. Nurture talents already available to you. Hire the right people from the beginning, and stop trying to outcast those who do not fit the culture you've bred.
