I have not been trained well. I have learned a lot...but on my own. I have not been valued by my boss. I have brought this up to her boss, and nothing came of it. Two people left my position before me. I am burnt out. I do not feel supported. I am critiqued often. It's not the most positive.
What makes you most happy at work?
Working with language makes me very happy and being amongst people who are interested in me as a person--my immediate boss excluded.
What did you like most about the interview process?
I liked the unique questions, which were targeted at learning about my personality rather than cold, flat facts about my work history.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My coworkers (NOT my boss) are very helpful and supportive. They invest in me as a person and make me feel like I belong, even though I am much newer to the company than they are. I never feel excluded.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
My coworkers. My boss and her attitude makes coming into work a dreadful experience that I would avoid if I could. What keeps me here is the quality of people I work with. People here tend to be very welcoming and supportive.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Besides my immediate boss, the leadership team is very supportive. They are interested in nurturing the growth of everyone on the team. They like to make people feel included. I would be very happy with my position if my boss were like the rest of the leadership team.
What do you like best about your company?
I like that they create career paths for people. There is a lot of opportunity for upward mobility. The leadership team is also very open to change and betterment. I have posited some changes that ended up being accepted. This has been a great experience for my career.
What would you most like to see improved at your company?
I would like for people in leadership positions be relooked at. Just because someone has been here for years does not make them the best candidate to be in charge. I would really like my immediate boss replaced because having someone else in charge would drastically improve our department.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I feel under valued because my boss puts the department's workload on my shoulders. We are a two-person team and she makes a lot more than I do and does very little. So I feel that this is unfair and disrespectful. I am not valued as a person, and I am paid lower than average.
