How's the work life balance at DataCamp?
Good for a US startup. A typical work week is around 45 to 50 hours. The New York City location means that fun is easy to find in the near vicinity.
How does DataCamp make decisions around promotions?
The company is new enough that the corporate structure has not completely solidified, so AFAIK, there isn't a formal process yet.
How's the vacation policy at DataCamp?
Nothing formal. It's a US system, so not enough by my European standards. I took 13 days last year.
What would cause you to leave your job at DataCamp?
My stock options gain value enough that I get to retire early.

The main challenge is that moving to a new city means starting a social life all over again. But I don't work evenings or weekends, so juggling work and a social life is not a problem.

Weekly 1 hour meeting with team. Weekly 1 hour one to one with line manager. Quarterly reviews with line manager and CEO. So lots of opportunity to discuss problems.

The ability to self manage is important throughout the company. For the Content team, having a broad knowledge of data science techniques and having teaching experience are essential.
