I am fortunate to have the opportunity to dive in to "what's next" and "are we aligned to where the puck is going." It's always something new.

Distilling a lot of complexity and clearing a lot of ambiguity that empowers my colleagues to then focus and go do great things that help customers or move the market.

What do you like best about the leadership team?
There's a sense of mission & aspiration to big impact, but equally important belief that how you get there is clear choices & focus - not boiling the ocean or being all things to all people. It's the right recipe for excellence without burnout.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The open source database on which our company is built - Apache Cassandra - is best of breed. Its community and our customers can change their industries and the world. The best part of the culture is taking that seriously and wanting to make them into heroes.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
The leadership team was willing to make powerful choices, quickly, in order to focus. Trying to "do all the things" can bring in business in the short run but is not the path to big impact and differentiation. We're willing to commit to go big or go home.
What are some of the best things about your team?
There's a real commitment to not wasting time out of anyone's life. We want to focus on the work that matters most, and work in the ways - individually and collectively - that are most productive. When something feels off track from this we will work together to fix it.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone who believes in the mission & practices our company principles at work should feel they are welcome here & it is a place where they can do their best work. Conversely: if neither of those things are true, we're OK with the fact it's not the best place for you to be for you or co workers.
