DataStax is the best company I have worked for. Before coming here I always thought of "culture" in the negative context of the word. My career has taken me to many Fortune 500 companies as employers and / or clients- only one publicly traded company is even CLOSE to the culture DataStax has.
What are some of the best things about your team?
When I came here, I always had "managers" and "bosses" now I have a "coach" that gives me a high level of autonomy.
What makes you most happy at work?
My executive team has invested in my personal ideas about evangelizing the company and our Astra product. This vote of confidence gives me confidence to push boundaries.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
The leadership team balances the need for execution with the fact that employees are human. They select new employees based upon capability and capacity for kindness. The culture is the best I've ever seen.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The best part about my compensation package is the equity component. To know that the valuation of the company is in my and other employees hands, and we are the direct beneficiaries of good stewardship- it tends toward good decision making.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Honestly, I enjoy and look forward to the All-Hands meeting on Thursdays. The company is small enough to grasp the entire mission, but large enough that if frequent updates were not given we would be in danger of losing the plot.
