What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Assess your existing managers to see if they are truly holding up the firm's values, collect feedback from staff to better understand the culture that exists behind the scenes. Some managers have been in thr position so long they know how to manipulate the system to their advantage.
The turnover at the firm is due to perpetual burn out after chasing perpetual fires caused by innefficient staffing/revenue targets set that sound good versus market dynamics. It is hard to not feel like a number at Edelman - the focus is always on working at all hours.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
I get paid decent even though there is no direction.
Very fair base pay. Bonus is a challenge given slow growth across our industry.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Being fairly assessed and recognized for good work
Paid consistently below market rate at the junior level

Bonuses haven't been paid in years as they are tied to individual, group, geography and overall performance. If any of those fall short, payout is revoked.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Hard working and very smart.

Coworkers are bright and fun - too bad everyone is burned out

There is an open, supportive and collegial spirit among employees who work our team.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Stop bullying the new coworkers. We are still learning.
We had a meeting every morning first thing when we walked in the door. CEO would call in at 830 on the dot. Even the day after thanksgiving. Seems excessive for such a small company.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Best thing is family first

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Managers need to go beyond selling work and being able to retain talented people and foster a good work environment.
There needs to be better safeguards in place to help employees report managers who demean, demoralize and condescend to employees. This type of person manager tends to rise in the Edelman NYC office.

The EVP who hired me spent the entire interview talking about himself
I spoke with not only the executives I was going to work with but other administrative as well

Logging off at the end of the day
The staff, the work environment and leadership

The actual work we do for clients is incredibly inspiring.

NO WORK LIFE BALANCE because they refuse to hire new people when needed
