Be careful which division of Fed Ex you are applying. Fed Ex Express and Freight treat their employees well. Fed Ex Ground... not so much. A driver at Ground works for a contractor. A driver is considered a “subcontractor” which means that you are not covered by any labor laws. You might work 14 hours a day and get paid per diem $150. Another driver might work 8 hours and get paid the same. The turnover and stress are bad for drivers. I’m sorry to say this but it needs to change.
Benefits are awesome ..however after 30 plus years once one retires and becomes less of a risk..since your daily hazards are gone ...hows it fair your insurance doubles...and eats ones entire penision if you decide to retire between 55 thur 62 ...with the amount of employees this corporation has..how is this fair???? NOT all retires can do this....but hey we as a team went thru the hard times and built the core of the Company..leaves one greatful but still bares the fairness.. Of People First..
At Ground, none. After a year you might get 5 paid days off... that is for sick and vacation. You basically can’t get sick in Year one. You won’t get paid. It doesn’t matter. No health insurance, no retirement, stock options, etc. Express is different. I don’t understand the philosophy of Fed Ex regarding Ground drivers.
