Yes! To speed up or slow down any lesson video on the website, press the Play button, thenhover your mouse cursor over the video player. Click on the current playback speed, located in the lower right of the player to adjust it.

Select your preferred playback speed.

1.5x The playback speed of the video will be 1.5x faster than normal

Slowing down the video can help you see what the instructor is doing during faster sections of a lesson (like during a lead line or a quick chord switch).

Speed up the video to challenge yourself by practicing at a faster tempo.

The video player controls are a helpful tool for learning to play guitar. The controls give you the freedom to pause and stop to practice, or to re-watch something that was just taught.

Once you start watching a lesson, the video player controls will become available at the bottom of the video player.

To pause or resume playing the video Use the pause and play controls

To jump back to re-watch something you just watched Use the rewind 10 seconds control

To find a specific chapter in a video Use the chapter markers located on the scrubber bar. Hover over the markers and chapter titles will appear. Click the marker and you will jump directly to that section of the video.

To adjust the volume of the video Drag the volume up or down to adjust as needed

We know life gets busy. But you won’t get better if you don’t pick up that guitar or uke. We’ll help make your playing a habit and you will be amazed at your progress.

You can find practice reminders in your Account Settings (tap the profile icon in the top right corner of the screen) in the iOS or Android app. Enable a smart reminder to resume your last lesson, review your last exercise, learn a random riff.Or, create your own custom reminder. You set the time and date, and we’ll remind you when it’s time to play!

Steps to enable Practice Reminders:

Tap your Account Settings (the profile icon:

locatedin the top right corner of the screen).

Tap Practice Reminders.

Select a Smart Reminder or create a Custom Reminder.

Steps to edit Smart Reminders:

Tap 'Edit' from the top right of the Reminders screen.

Set the time and day of week, slide the Active switch to on (green) and tap Save.

Note: Smart reminders can be edited and enabled/disabled, but not deleted.

Steps to create a Custom Reminder:

Tap 'New Custom Reminder on the Practice Reminder screen.

Label your reminder and set the time and day of week, slide the Active switch to on (green) and tap Save.

Steps to delete a Custom Reminder:

Tap 'Edit' from the top right of the Reminders screen.

Next to any Custom Reminder you have created will be a red circle with a minus symbol. Tap this to delete a Customer Reminder then tap 'Done' from the top right of the screen.

Be sure you have notifications enabled on your device so you can receive your reminders. Tap on the notification to be taken to the lesson.

Is the Fender Play Annual Plan automatically renewed after 12 months?

What if I find a lesson too easy? Can I mark it as complete?

Yes. We've added a "Mark as Complete" feature to allow you to skip a course or lesson if it's too easy for you. Click here for steps on how to mark a course or lesson as complete.

Can I clear or undo completed progress for a lesson or course?

Do I have to follow my path step by step?

No. You can move around from paths to levels to instruments as you please. In fact, the sidebar navigation makes moving between lessons even easier.

How do I get to the navigation menu from mobile web?

How do I change my path?

You can change your path anytime you'd like by following the steps listed here.

Will I see the same progress on the web as I do on my mobile device?

Yes. Progress tracking will be the same, no matter what device you use to view lessons.

I know that a bubble next to a lesson fills in when I watch a lesson. What do the big green circles indicate?

As you watch individual lessons in a course, the large circles at the top of the course will begin to fill in, giving an approximate sense of how many lessons in a course have been completed so far. This should help you to keep track of where you left off on your path. Once all of the lessons have been watched in a course, the circle fills in with a checkmark to show you that the course has been completed.

How do I get support if I have more questions?

Yes. We've added a "Mark as complete" feature to allow you to skip a Course or Lesson you may find too easy for your skill level while still maintaining that sense of completion and progress. Follow these steps to mark a course or lesson as complete:

On the website:

Hover your curser over the Action Menu (three horizontal dots) menu to the right of any course or lesson.

Click on "Mark as complete" and confirm.

On the app:

Tap on the Action Menu (three horizontal dots) menu to the right of any course or lesson.

You're on aFender Play Streakwhen you visit Fender Play 3 times a week (on separate days) and watch a lesson (or lessons) for at least 7 minutes. Get on a streak to make faster progress with your playing!

How do I know when I'm on a streak?

You'll be notified automatically when you're on a streak, we'll track it for you. A fire icon will illuminate at the top of your screen to let you know you've started your streak.

How do I keep track of the days left in my streak?

Click on the fire icon to see how many more sessions you need to complete your goal.

When does my weekly period start and end?

Weekly Streak tracking begins on Monday at 12:01 AM (your local time) and ends the following Sunday at 12:00 AM Midnight (your local time). Once you've completed a streak, we'll let you know when the next weekly period starts so you can get on a new Streak.

How do I keep my Fender Play Streak going?

Make sure you've visited Fender Play 3 times a week, for at least 7 minutes each visit. Do this every week and you'll maintain your streak.

The Follow-Along Player lets you scroll through full screen tab on the website while still being able to see and hear the lesson.

Follow these steps to use the Follow-Along Player from the website:

1. Click the play button located on the video player in any lesson.

2. Click the picture-in-picture button to open up the Follow-Along Player.

3. You'll now be able to see all the tab along with the video player. As you scroll through the tab, the video player will follow along.

4. To return to the lesson page, click the split screen button located in the Follow-Along Player.

With Practice Mode, you can practice at your own pace by playing along with automatically-scrolling tablature and a metronome. For each lesson that has tablature, there will be a Practice Mode that follows.

You'll see the Practice Mode activity under any lesson that includes tablature on your My Path screen:

Auto-Scrolling Tablature

Practice Mode automatically moves the tab to match the tempo you have set.

A red cursor follows along in time with the tablature's tempo and thePlayback Speedsetting.

Playback Speed

Using thePlayback Speedbutton on theToolbar, you can slow the playback down, so it's at a more comfortable pace.

These speeds are available: 100\% (default), 75\%, 50\% and 25\%

Built-In Metronome

An audible metronome is enabled by default in Practice Mode.

The metronome can be turned on and off using the controls in the bottomtoolbar.

It's best to first just get whatever you are playing/practicing under your fingers without the metronome...get comfortable with finger placement, how your fret hand and thumb are positioned, your posture, etc. Then once you're comfortable, set the metronome to the lowest setting and practice at that speed until you aren't making any mistakes, then take it up a notch to the next metronome tempo and so on, until you get to 100\%.

Count-In

When the Play button is pressed, a 1-measurecount-in will happen before the playback begins, to give you time to get your hands back to your instrument and prepare to play.

The Count-In can be turned on and off using the controls in the bottomtoolbar.

Practice Mode is currently available on desktop-sized web browsers, iOS app and Android app.

Save a lesson or course as a Favorite so you can easily return to it later! Follow the steps below to use this feature.

On the website:

Save a course or lesson as a Favorite

To save a course as a Favorite from the My Path screen or a course detail screen, click the Action Menu (three horizontal dots to the right of any course) and click "Save to Favorites" (the heart icon will become red). To remove it from your Favorites list, just click "Save to Favorites" again(the heart icon will go back to white).

To save a lesson as a Favorite, click the heart icon to the right of any lesson (the heart icon will become red). To remove it from your Favorites list, just click the heart again(the heart icon will go back to white).

You can save a lesson as a Favorite from a lesson page as well. The heart icon is located below the video player to the left of the Action Menu.

Browse and Manage your Favorites

Click "Favorites" from the Navigation Menu.

You can filter and sort the lessons and courses you have saved. Click the heart icon to remove anything from your Favorites list. You'll need to refresh the page to update the list if you remove any items.

On the app:

Follow these steps to use the Follow-Along Player from the website:

1. Click the play button located on the video player in any lesson.

2. Click the picture-in-picture buttonto open up the Follow-Along Player.

3. You'll now be able to see all the tab along with the video player. As you scroll through the tab, the video player will follow along.

4. To return to the lesson page, click the split screenbutton located in the Follow-Along Player.

Follow these steps to use the Mini Player from the app:

1. Tap the arrow icon located in the top right of the video player.

2. The video player will collapse into the Mini Player so you can view more of the tabs while still viewing or listening to the lesson video.

DATING EARLY FENDER AMPLIFIERS Dating early Fender amplifiers is sometimes quite challenging. While dating Fender amps made before 1994 by serial number is all but impossible (as records of these numbers were never kept), all hope is not lostthe charts below should prove helpful in dating your Fender amp.

First, it will be useful to you to understand the following five terms in order to choose the correct chart for dating your amp: Silverface, Blackface and Brownface are slang terms used to identify Fender amplifiers based on the color of the control panel (these terms are often misconstrued to refer to the color of the grille cloth). Tolex is the textured vinyl material that covers the amp; offered in many different colors and textures over the years. Tweed refers to the two-tone woven fabric that covered many early amplifiers. On early amps, this material was varnished to make it a more durable covering. Several different types, in vertical and diagonal weaves, were used.

Please note that it’s quite difficult to precisely determine the production date of early Fender amps. Although the dates derived using the charts below will likely be a good approximation, they should not be considered exact.

DATING CONTEMPORARY FENDER AMPLIFIERS All Fender amplifiers manufactured from 1990 to the present include a date code, printed on the quality assurance (QA) sticker on the back of the amp chassis. This black-and-silver sticker contains several lines for “sign-offs” on completion of sound and electrical testing. The final line contains a date code of two printed or handwritten letters denoting the amplifier’s production date by year (the first letter) and month (the second letter).

In the table below, for example, a “CE” date code indicates a production date of May 1992.

DATING 1951-1969 BLACKFACE, BROWNFACE, BROWN TOLEX, WHITE TOLEX OR TWEED AMPLIFIERS USING THE TUBE STICKER On the inside of the cabinets of most Fender amps made after 1950 and before 1970, there might be a “tube location” sticker. This sticker is a chart that shows the types of tube types used and the order of their physical location in the amplifier, and may be rubber-stamped with two-letter date codes that denote the year (first letter) and month (second letter) of production. These stamped letters may appear in various positions on the chart.

In the table below, for example, a “JE” date code indicates a production date of May 1960.

DATING FENDER AMPLIFIERS (INCLUDING SILVERFACE AND BLACKFACE AMPS) USING TRANSFORMER CODES

In general, Fender amps that don’t have rubber-stamped tube sticker date codes have EIA numbers on their transformers that might enable determination of the production date. These numbers always begin with “EIA 606,” and are followed by three or four digits in various combinations.

If three digits are present, the first digit refers to the year (i.e., a “7” would mean 1967). If four digits are present, the first two digits refer to the year (i.e., a “66” would mean 1966). The last two digits refer to the week of the year (i.e., a “26” would mean the 26th week or, roughly, June). For example, EIA 606-4-21 would denote the 21st week of 1964. It is also advisable to add about 6 months to the date to allow for time these parts may have spent in inventory storage.

REFERENCE MATERIALS FOR DATING FENDER AMPLIFIERS If you are unable to determine the approximate production year of your amplifier using the above charts, there are other means of dating Fender amps. Several excellent books are available that contain reliable and invaluable information on the history of Fender amplifiers. We highly recommend each of them.

To use these books most effectively, you’ll need to get the date codes from the speaker frames and potentiometers, and as much other detailed information as you can find about the specs and features of your amp. They are detailed reference resources with a wealth of information on determining the production years of various amplifiers and on Fender history in general. Indeed, we use these same books here at Fender when researching historical and date-related issues.

Check the Base Firmware on your amp:

You will want to make note of the base firmware version you are running, so you can confirm that it has updated by one version after running the patch. The base firmware version is located on the same screen as your firmware version (press the MENU button and use the Encoder to scroll to ABOUT THIS AMP). The base firmware version is listed as ‘BASE VER.’

Base Firmware 1.0.38 will update to 1.0.39

Base Firmware 1.1.0 will update to 1.1.1

Base Firmware 1.1.2 will update to 1.1.3

Once you have the cable and have noted your base firmware version, follow these steps to download and run the Utility:

It is possible to export one or all of the Presets saved to the memory of the Fender G-DEC 3 to a SD card. To do this, follow these steps: In the Fender G-DEC 3 Utility menu, navigate to the Export to SD screen. The Export One screen is used to export just one Preset to a SD card while the Export All screen will export all of your Presets. If you would like to export just one Preset, simply select the Preset number using the Encoder knob and press one of the inner soft keys under Export One. To export all Presets, just press one of the inner soft keys under Export All. Note: Make sure to have an empty SD card or Presets with unique names. Presets with duplicate names will be overwritten!

There are many ways to convert audio files to and from the many popular formats. Freeware or shareware programs such as Winamp, iTunes, Audacity, and QuickTime can all import, convert, and then export audio files of various formats.

It is a known issue that Windows system sounds, when played through the Fender G-DEC 3, will cause the currently playing Band Track to stop playing. For this reason, it is recommended that you disable all Windows system alert sounds when your Fender G-DEC 3 is connected. To disable system sounds in Windows XP: Click the Start button. Choose Control Panel. Click Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on the Sounds tab. Select No Sounds from the Sound Scheme drop down menu. To disable system sounds in Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click the Start button. Choose Control Panel. Click Hardware and Sound. Click Change System Sounds under the Sound menu. Click the Sounds tab. Select No Sounds from the Sound Scheme drop down menu. NOTE: If the Band Track stops playing and you weren’t using the Fender G-DEC 3 as an audio interface, verify that repeat is turned on for the selected Band Track.

The Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty includes a 10\" driver and separate tweeter, while the Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen includes an 8\" speaker. Both speakers are Fender Special Design, which allows them to produce the best possible sound for instrument tone as well as Band Tracks.

The card reader in the Fender G-DEC 3 can read and write data on microSD cards as long as a properly sized microSD card adapter is used. These adapters can be found at most electronics stores. There is no difference between SD and microSD cards other than the physical size of the card itself.

The Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty offers several routing options for audio. It’s possible that the Speaker setting in the Utility menu is set to Guitar, instead of All. Tto change this setting: Press and hold the EXIT button on the Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty to access the Utility menu. Next, navigate to the Speaker setting in the Utility menu on the Fender G-DEC 3 and verify that the setting is set to All. If this setting is set to Guitar, you will not hear Band Tracks through the speaker.

QA (Quick Access) mode allows you to assign three Presets to soft keys for quick access to your favorite Presets. To assign a QA preset, press and hold the QA1 button. While holding the QA1 button, turn the silver encoder knob to select the Preset that you woud like to have as your QA1 Preset. Once you have selected your Preset here,release the QA1 button and the repeat the process for the QA2 and QA3 locations. If you have a Fender ULT-4 pedal connected, you can check your QA Presets by going to Mode 1 on the pedal to confirm your QA Preset assignments.

Some users may experience an improper stereo image when listening to a device plugged in to the aux input on the Fender G-DEC 3. This could be due to not having the 3.5mm plug from the device completely inserted into the Aux Input jack on the amp.

If you are experiencing this issue, please make sure the 3.5mm plug is inserted all the way into the Aux Input jack.

In Utility mode, verify the Speaker setting and Line Out setting are set to All. To enter Utility mode, simply hold the EXIT button on the Fender G-DEC 3 for about 3 seconds.
