Q&A With HubSpot Employees

HubSpot employees answer questions about what life is like behind the scenes at their company, including queries about culture, leadership, professional development, and compensation.

How employees describe working at HubSpot

HubSpot has been a great company to work for. I'm worried about the growth a bit as I think some decisions we're making are still geared towards a smaller company and I fear won't help us scale.

Review from HR Dept

HubSpot has high standards and it's fast paced, so it's not for someone who wants to coast. But the environment is exciting, the people are incredibly smart, and the company truly values it's employees. It's a really fantastic place to work.

Review from Customer Support Dept

HubSpot is by far the best company I've worked for. Between work/life balance and the real impact we have on customers, I can't see myself working elsewhere anytime soon.

Review from Product Dept

HubSpot is an exciting company to be at, and a wonderful place to grow and learn.

Review from Product Dept

I've been here for a decade for a reason :)

  • People work hard, but have a lot of fun and go out together a lot. I work 40 hours a week.

  • I'm in the office probably 30 hours a week and work a day a week at home (which is very productive) and then do things here and there nights and weekends but that part is not overwhelming at all.

  • HubSpot hiring includes a cultural evaluation -- in this way, they've built a team of truly gifted, yet humble, people.

  • Focus on the mission of the company, and don't get hung up on petty, little things, such as perks, snacks in the kitchen, etc.

  • Lots of autonomy to work in a way that aligns with my current life situations. Managers are always super supportive and take the initiative to help me move my career along. The Employee Resource Group for parenting is extremely active with creating opportunities for family events(or really whatever that ERG is dedicated too, I still see tons of other speakers/networking events for other ERGs). I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be.

  • I'm biased, because I interned here on the marketing team and then later took on a full time role at the company. As an intern, I was given projects that were critical to the performance of my team. I was also given access to information about the company's business processes, and included in conversations with colleagues of all levels. I felt like a true employee and was set up for success because I also had a mentor within my department but on a different team who had also interned previously.

  • I had 2 phone interviews and 2 hours of onsite interviews (4 interviews that were 30 minutes each). HubSpot is dealing with thousands of applicants at a time. Sometimes hundreds of people apply to one role. Stay patient- they are excellent at getting back to you one way or another. It might take 2 weeks or it make take 2 months. It'll be worth the wait.

  • Depends on the role. Definitely be prepared to explain what HubSpot is and does. Prepare to answer questions about times you've failed or learned from a mistake. Also prepare to talk about times where you've really succeeded or your biggest accomplishment. Make sure you can speak to your current role and why you are looking to make a move to HubSpot.
