Supportive and repectful, good management
The Leadership team openly communicates business results and lets everyone know what the overall goal of the Company is.
The leadership team needs to be better at accepting feedback from their reports. The company takes pride in implementing changes brought up in the engagement survey performed each year, but outside of this, there is little to no opportunity for employee involvement in important decisions.
The pay rates are better than the average competitor.
Better salary and proper health plan
Though I feel sufficiently paid in comparison to other jobs in the region, this is because the province functions under a monopoly and the owners of JDI virtually control every aspect of the economy. Wage suppression is a real concern. I would be much better paid if I moved to a different location.
My health benefits are not up to snuff compared to many other employers in Atlantic Canada.
Communication and understanding the goal
My team has a lot of talented and bright people on it. Hearing their ideas and learning from their experiences is key to growing.
Most people work well together. There are always conflicts but they don't impact the overall workplace, sometimes just two or three people on the team who are not getting along.
I feel that I work together well with my coworkers, but the toxic culture has everybody feeling weary and my coworkers wear their sentiments on their sleeve.
The employees/co workers and all team players
The most positive aspect of the company culture is my coworkers and opportunities for lateral mobility.
My peers are bright and collaborative.
Good work relationships built over the years. Lots of people that have been working together for years.

I had the opportunity to meet many members of the leadership team.
The interviews were informal, but directed at specific things. It felt very conversational and gave a good impression.
It was okay, it was a long time ago.

Achieving big goals on big projects.
The Irvings are good owners, people will complain but I think those are people who will never be happy. We get lots of perks, good pay. It's a good company to work for. The only down side is the rotating shift work.,
The Irving family has a monopoly in the region and are the only shareholders. Until the government implements policy to curb this, it will never change. The Irving's will never be challenged when it matters and even their direct reports are too afraid of them to speak their mind.
