Recent Questions About the Interview Process at Kaiser Permanente

  • Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from Kaiser Permanente?
Team managers; heard back the next day

You will have multiple interviews with multiple managers. And it can take days, weeks, or (in my case) months before a final decision might be made. Sometimes this happens because they will be filling multiple roles and passing good candidates around to see who is a good fit for what, it doesn't necessarily mean they didn't like you if you don't hear from them right away.

Several Directors, Many different managers and staff. Didn’t hear back for 3-4 weeks.

I met with the health plan - clinic manager and therapists; I had to ask to meet with medical group though I’d be working directly with them more. If there is an immediate need on KPs side, then the answer is faster. We have so much to do here that employee concerns or new employee feedback is triaged to the end of the line

  • How would you compare interviewing at Kaiser Permanente to other places you've interviewed?
    Group interview & possibly a one-on-one
    Answered 7 years ago
It was middling. I've been to more formal and interrogative interviews, but I've also been to many less formal. They're going to focus more on your experience than you personally - because they get a lot of applicants.

    Intense. Thorough.

  • What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at Kaiser Permanente?
Probably a quiz on terms associated with the work. I knew from experience, but some interview questions would be hard to fake your way through. In general, everyone at the company knows what they're talking about - there's no nepotism or hiring friends.

The most difficult interview question(s) asked during an interview for a lateral transfer within the company (which I did not ultimately take) was about the things I dislike most about my current role and my current boss, shortly following the standard strengths and weaknesses question as well as what peers would say as areas of weakness. I didn't mind the questions themselves as a tool to identify if the new role and team would be a good fit, but having several questions in a row with a negative focus set a tone/theme for the whole interview. Overall I think that the interview style at this company is fairly balanced and effective. Having conducted interviews in my role on my current team, I can attest to the theme and underlying motivation of truly using questions to determine fit and comparability with group culture rather than seeking to surprise an interviewee with "gotcha" questions.
