Executive Bio

Mr. Joe Berchtold has been the Chief Operating Officer of Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. since April 2011. Mr. Berchtold leads many of Live Nation Entertainment's performance improvement and strategic initiatives. In addition, he oversees several of the corporate functions. Prior to joining Live Nation in 2011, he was at Technicolor SA, where he was most recently President of Technicolor Creative Services, which included post-production, digital services, film processing and distribution businesses. He served as President of Technicolor Theatrical Services at NOB Cross Media Facilities. He served as the President of Electronic Content Distribution Services of Technicolor, Inc. He was responsible for overall strategic development, growth and operations for the division on a worldwide basis. Prior to Technicolor, Mr. Berchtold was a Partner in the Los Angeles Office of McKinsey and Company where he lead the West Coast Media practice, working extensively on strategic, marketing and operations issues. He also led McKinsey's broadband special initiative to integrate and extend thinking on broadband infrastructure, enablers and application. Since joining Thomson in 2003, he served as Co-head of strategy and acquisitions. Key initiatives he has led include the acquisition of DirecTV's set top box business; investment in Content Guard with Time Warner and Microsoft where he sits on the board; and developed an agreement with VeriSign to jointly develop an on-line content authentication and authorization service bureau to support the secure delivery of electronic entertainment content over digital networks. He was awarded the Wall Street Journal Award as the most outstanding business student and was selected to conduct graduate-level study at Oxford University. Mr. Berchtold graduated from Pomona College where he earned his B.A. in Economics. He earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where he graduated as a Baker Scholar and Loeb Fellow.
