How are layoffs handled in the Engineering department at MITRE?
We rarely layoff in the tech staff. the tech staff are the product at MITRE. When performance becomes an issue we do our best to help the staff get better. At the last resort we terminate.
What's the internship program like at MITRE?
The intern program has a ton of events and networking opportunities, and the pay is not bad at all. Actual work you'll be doing for the internship varies depending on project assignment, but in general they do a good job trying to find a good project that can be both impactful and time-boxed. A number of interns have been able to merge their senior design projects into work at MITRE, and quite a few interns come back for full time work.

collaborative and work life balanced. MITRE strives to keep you at 40 hrs/wk and does a pretty good job at that.
