Engagement and actually being good people
My immediate leadership is stellar, always willing to work with you
They are mostly well educated.
Dedicated professionals seeking to make the world a safer place
The leadership team are very eager to help if asked and seem to want to do so.
Making decisions that could plausibly lead to this company doing anything it claims to do.

Communicating their decision making. Listening to employee complaints and acting upon
Communication. Most changes end up being communicated through word of mouth. Bad news is always sold as a benefit, even when it obviously isn't.
Communication to employees, empathy, understanding, telling the truth.
Executive team is too new to MITRE and has no clue about what motivates the majority of employees and satisfies customers. Employees are extremely mistrustful of the executive team.

The retirement 401k fidelity plan
Work life balance and flexibility
Education reimbursement and tuition assistance

10% retirement match. The first 2% is matched with 7.5%, so even if you don't contribute much you get a lot of match
Our retirement match is 10%
Give us back our earned paid time off, improve the medical benefits, and stop forcing teleworkers to renew contracts every year. And if workers have to come to work, give them an office.
Bigger raises, larger salaries for employees with more years in the job.

Our pay is less than industry average, and our benefits have been cut.
Lack of equity and low bonus structure is challenging
More pay for the workload and showing more appreciation. Verbal appreciation is fine but I don't feel like yhey mean it because the demand is ridiculous for the pay.
Great team with diverse experience
Excellent array of technical skills
Intelligent, work well together, and cohesive
Team meetings are effective and friendly. Everyone is so driven and helpful to each other.
Smart people who can work independently. I learn something every day.
Just low-technical-level people, no motivation or morale.
MITRE lacks strong technical staff. Hiring needs to focus more on technical competency.
Many are retired in place and have become complacent. They tell clients what they want to hear, sit at a desk for 8 hours, and claim that their role is to provide "oral deliverables." (I am not joking.)
Review from Engineering Dept
Fewer meetings and clear expectations and being more supportive.
Show up on time, end on time, focus on the meeting rather than on the distractions, come prepared.
Review from Engineering Dept
My work environment is positive because I work at a client site, far from the MITRE HQ work environment. People avoid working there for a reason.
For the most part positive
Personal needs are addressed very well
People across the company will help other employees on slack with random questions. People also speak honestly about concerns with ELT and benefits.
People really try to help out each other and share knowledge. You can reach out to a complete stranger with a question and they're happy to help!
They could try taking any positive action towards organizing their workforce. It seems like all they know how to do is issue top-down decrees to control employee behavior.
Review from Engineering Dept
There needs to be clear communication from leadership and more of an emphasis on defining and executing projects
Provide more recognition for employees who have worked at the company longer.

Clean house -- especially across the NSEC -- overhaul everything from the VPs down and STOP hiring execs because they "look the part." There are dozens of empty suites in the 6/7 and above levels that haven't produced anything but paperwork for decades.
Review from Engineering Dept
Much more downward focus an understanding of employee needs; thus improving the work environment.
Interview day itself was a positive experience.

Meeting with the work staff
The interview process was fairly straight forward
Professionally managed by human resources
Numerous interviewers for objectivity. Transparency of process.
Review from Engineering Dept
Skills-based interviews. Stop calling everyone a systems engineer (or stop hiring people for systems engineering roles who don't have those skills).
Review from Engineering Dept
Being able to work on interesting projects and to an extent, to choose or at least propose those projects.
Review from Engineering Dept
Interesting work that involves solving problems
Doing good research and effective project work.
Colleagues 100-% - fantastic team
Right now, just having a job because I don't trust management.
Review from Engineering Dept
There needs to be more transparency within the company to its workers
See previous question. Accountability and willingness to take action are imperative. Stop being driven by the "good ol boy" relationships. MITRE is stuck in 1982 and it shows.
Review from Engineering Dept
Top management is now focused on social equity as a central theme. Scientific innovation is way down the list.
Too many things are going wrong with no clear steps to improve it.
It's been wrong since 1958. We get hired by the government because the government contracting rules are so difficult to deal with, if you have an FFRDC, then just issue a task order and you can skip it. Lower quality but bodies none the less.
Review from Engineering Dept
The focus on integrity and truth.
Review from Engineering Dept
Focus on unbiased integrity and honesty with our government sponsors seems to be slowly eroding with the shift toward exploring more for-profit activities. We have a stellar reputation for being trusted advisors. Don't lose it.
