  • Terrible as you are expected to be available at all hours if your manager pings you at odd hours and expects an immediate reply.

  • Terrible for the techs. In my region, Everyone is on call all of the time. You get called in on your day off, Your scheduled days off change to you working. Schedule changes constantly. It is very hard to plan lifetime events or even just balance family life.

  • standard 401K, standard PTO, pretty bad health insurance, rarely get a bonus, but stocks are great

  • 401K Stock participation Health Insurance (~150USD/month)

  • Benefits packages depend on your geographic location, what department you're working in, and whether your company was acquired recently or not. Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k seem pretty standard. Unlimited sick leave, decent parental leave, 6 floating holidays and 2 weeks' vacation are standard for the area I'm working in. The home office has onsite gym, cafeteria, soon to be onsite healthcare, etc.

    Its up to your manager, but there’s a fairly liberal virtual office policy. My entire team works from home.

  • The dress code at NCR is pretty casual, most men are in pants or jeans and a polo or button down shirt. Women's dress runs the spectrum from jeans and blouses to sheath dresses. Generally, for an interview I think you should dress 1 step better than how the team dresses day-to-day. For an interview in product management, I don't think men can go wrong with pants and a sport jacket (no tie). Women would fair well in pants and a blazer or skirt/blouse combination.

    The culture seems to depend entirely on where you are located. Centrally, the culture is get it done whatever it takes. In satellite offices, it varies greatly. There's work being performed to improve corporate culture, and in multiple locations, it's very good. In some locations, it's very poor. You need to talk to locals to get your local office culture.
