Pilot Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

The cash and equity parts.

I'm paid competitively compared to market rate for my skills and experience.

Review from Engineering Dept

The unlimited PTO and medical plan being available at start is one of the best parts of the compensation.

I believe I have a competitive salary and making a commission is great. Overall, Pilot roles can be tough, but our leadership ensures we are paid fairly for the work we do.

Review from Sales Dept

my salary and stock options

Review from Sales Dept

Competitive base salary and high potential for equity appreciation.

Healthcare being paid for on my behalf!

I didn't negotiate strongly during the interview process yet they gave me a greater amount than my asking rate since they wanted my compensation to be level with other hires for the same role.

Review from Sales Dept

They reward you when you are doing your job well!

Review from Finance Dept

The salary is the best part, very competitive compared to other companies doing the same work.

Review from Finance Dept

PTO, Remote, paid insurance, plus decent base pay with OT if needed.

Review from Finance Dept

unlimited PTO and flexible schedule

Review from Finance Dept

the medical benefits are good

Definitely the benefits (Health, Dental Vision) as well as daily lunch!

Review from Finance Dept

I feel like I'm compensated what my value to the company is worth.

Review from Sales Dept

Unlimited commission and very generous equity package

Review from Sales Dept

Good health care and medical

Review from Sales Dept

Unlimited PTO and fair benefits if you need something, just ask for it!

Review from Operations Dept

The commission - you get rewarded for doing a great job.

Review from Sales Dept

Pilot pays 100% of health insurance, dental, and vision, and there is unlimited PTO

Review from Finance Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

The company is not open to negotiating salary changes at promotion/role changes, and does not always incorporate similar/accurate market comps.

It seems like our team gets lots of kudos but the base salary for our specialized work should be higher.

Review from Operations Dept

Compensation and specifically internal growth in compensation from promotions based off performance / impact and not determined as a % of your starting rate.

Review from Operations Dept

We feel like the backbone of the company and feel like we stretch ourselves so far - and are not compensated enough for the amount of work we handle

Review from Finance Dept

My compensation is significantly lower than my peers in New York /SF because of my location (Austin). Less than 80% of NY/SF is not even close to market for Austin. I was re-traded on my offer at the last minute after turning down other offers because of my location. I still feel cheated by it.

Review from Operations Dept

Compensation is on the low end, but you do have opportunities for overtime so you do have the ability to even out compensation.

Review from Operations Dept

Should be more competitive with base compensation

Review from Finance Dept

I would appreciate if Pilot made info around compensation more accessible -- e.g. what are the salary bands for each role/level, what data goes into salary calculations, etc.

Review from Operations Dept

Pay and benefits aren't competitive to the area or industry.

A more competitive compensation would be nice - Pilot needs to pay fairly for labor.

Review from Product Dept

For how much the company has raised and how often we hit company wide goals, compensation remains not competitive

Review from Operations Dept

There are no raises for the first 18 months, which doesn't incentivize me to do a better job. Their pay doesn't equal the amount of work that's actually required to get my job done. There is no room for negotiation, it's unfair bc it colors my overall love for working at Pilot.

More competitive compensation and benefits

Review from Engineering Dept

Matching 401(k) and a competitive salary would be nice.

Review from Operations Dept

I feel I have to deal with a lot more problems than I am being paid for. I work on a small team and if one person is out we all suffer and subsequently have to do an intense amount of work to compensate. We also have 24 hour SLA breaches which are very hard to meet when you have a high email volume.

Review from Operations Dept

There is tremendous growth opportunity at the company, but I believe that with growth in work, there should also be some growth in compensation.

Review from Finance Dept

More visibility into why I'm compensated this way, what I can do tangibly to increase my pay, and what the highest achievers in my role make.
