What leadership? Those at senior level must have been there when company started, not hired on management skills. Everyone is anti-social and passive-aggressive. Job duties are not assigned based on skill-level; supervisors point out failings but don't offer help or clarity around expectations.
Criminally low wages across the board for a company based in Los Angeles.
Content team mostly hires entry-level to do mid-level work in order to pay them less. Some employees are salaried, some hourly. Job titles have vastly disparate duties and pay. 5 days vacation first year and a culture that promotes 10-hr days and no work from home.
Coworkers are the best part of the company. Really intelligent, awesome people working super hard. Unfortunately, team building is inherently not a part of the work culture. Inter-departmental mingling is difficult with a quarterly happy hour being a rare chance to interact.
A complete cultural shift around quality versus quantity. Managers who encourage employees to take lunches, clock out on time, etc. Not managers who base employee's merits solely on output. A better appreciation for freelancers.

Sell the empty office, raise pay by 10% across the board from middle management down.
Many employees are just keeping one foot out the door. Hard to feel optimistic for a digital media company in an age where editorial employees are the first to go. Especially at one where the content is clickbait, not values-based.
