Sally Beauty – My overall experience was not good. There was always drama between co-workers, a high turnover rate and we often didn't have the supplies we needed to complete the job. Customers stole and policy disallowed us to take any action. The breakroom was a tiny supply room with no windows or space to eat. | Comparably

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

The free products once a month are nice and the enthusiasm for customers and being knowledgeable about the products is infectious.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

My co-workers know how to do their job well but create drama and are unreliable. No one stays longer than 2 or 3 months.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

The hiring manager needs to choose people who are reliable and professional. My manager also never explained the different sales areas to me but put constant pressure on me to improve them and rated my performance based on them.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Employees aren't rewarded or compensated for achieving higher numbers in sales categories. There is constant pressure to be perfect at all activities but few supplies to accomplish the tasks and a lot of repetitious busy work that takes a lot of brain power.

What did you like most about the interview process?

The process felt less interrogative and more inquisitive. A lot of hiring managers can be intimidating and I felt that mine was just looking for real information: reliability, experience and availability. She seemed patient and willing to help me learn along the way.

What makes you most happy at work?

Being in the beauty industry is interesting. There is a lot to learn and a lot of opportunities to be creative. It's also enjoyable to share this knowledge with customers. It is nice to help people find quality products that make them feel good about themselves.
