  • SEEK Classic ads will now be variably priced based on a number of factors including candidate availability, location youre hiring in and average salary for the role.

Previously, all SEEK Classic ads cost the same, regardless of the role you were looking to fill. For example, the price of a job ad was the same whether you were searching for an Engineer or Call Centre Operator.

Now, the price you pay for a Classic ad will vary, reflecting a number of factors, including the availability of candidates and the location youre hiring in.

This means that we may be lowering the prices for roles where there is high candidate availability in the location youre hiring in.

In turn, if you are looking to hire for a role where there is low availability of candidates in the location youre hiring in, the price of your Classic ad may be higher.

This also means that the price of a Classic ad for the same role in the same location may vary at different points in time, as candidate availability varies.

You can still upgrade to StandOut ads by paying an additional fixed fee on top of the variable Classic ad price.

Right now, these changes apply only to customers on subscription contracts.

Ad pack and casual purchasers will transition at a later date in 2020.

  • There is no way to hide your profile from a particular person or employer, however you can choose the level of information you would like to share by selecting the privacy setting that best meets your needs. Please note that this privacy setting will apply to all potential employers. We recommend approaching your SEEK profile like an online profile that showcases your skills and qualifications even when youre not actively looking for a new role.

  • The Profile Visibility setting controls who can see your profile. You can choose between three privacy settings:

Standard is what we recommend. This means that Employers can view your profile and resum and can contact you directly or via SEEK with job opportunities.

Limited means that Employers can view your profile, but not your resum and can only contact you via SEEK.

Hidden means that Employerscan'tview your profile, resum or contact you with job opportunities.

  • When you search on SEEK using the Where field, you can either look for a specific suburb, or a broader area. We use this location as the centre point for your results. However, depending on the type of role and location, we may show you results from nearby areas to ensure you see all the relevant opportunities.

For example, if youre searching for barista or retail assistant, you may prefer to choose a job in a specific suburb thats close to where you live. If youre searching for accountant or software developer, you may be willing to travel further. In addition, job seekers in rural areas tend to travel further than those in metropolitan areas. We may also look at local geographical features, such as crossing the harbour in Sydney or Auckland. So, to maximise your chance of seeing a relevant opportunity, we may expand your search area to include surrounding metropolitan or regional areas.
