The line manager needs to get clear and direct decisions. Line manager depends on third parties (other department heads) for decisions related to her staff
Should be easier to get promoted if you are talented and capable. Very hierarchical organisation and some really old-fashioned thinking at the top leadership level, so that's definitely a downside. This should change - a lot!
