They were more conversational rather than "tell me about a time when" type questions.
There is a lot of variety to experience with interviewing at Tucows. I had a great experience and I know others have too, but I think that some folks haven't and we can do more to make sure that we have more consistent processes in place for hiring.
Review from Engineering Dept

it was laid back and comfortable
- Leaders involvement - Feel comfortable when first time meeting.
Virtual face to face meetings that were conversational rather than just a list of bullet point or canned questions.
It was very conversational and I quickly became less nervous early in the interview due to the way it was being handled.
I liked how friendly and personable the hiring person was on the phone. It made the interview more of a conversation. They were transparent and respectful and I felt asked fair questions. I also liked how fast the whole process was!
Met interesting people and had interesting conversations along the way.
Review from Operations Dept
No "gotchas" or other showboating from the interviewers.
The transparency of the process and what was expected
Review from HR Dept
The questions were to verify my fit both technically and personally for the role and team. I believe you can nail it easily if you don't false advertise.
The ability to determine whether I would fit the culture and to talk to a lot of different folks.
Constructive feedback after the fact.
It is not a stuffy interview process. This allows potential employees feel more comfortable with the thought of working here
Interview process was very informal conversation with a focus on getting to know each other as well as technical knowledge.
It is better than anywhere else
Review from Operations Dept
Honesty from the leader and a real pitcure of the environment and state of the business.
Based on feedback from neighbours in the GTA around me , a lack of communication a lack of follow up a lack of answer as to whether they're hired or not going on months at times. So communication again needs to change. The people team and operations managers Have truly made our company look bad here
