UL Solutions Environment Employee Reviews

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Open communication, aligned goals, and compassion for each other

Interacting with engaged peers to solve problems

Review from Engineering Dept

hybrid working work well even though leadership is not so thrilled about it. forcing staff back into the office is not the way BUT there are ways to incentifize staff to return , to make it there own preference. I will consult on this if asked.

Flexible work hours arrangement. Option for remote, hybrid or work on site

Review from Sales Dept

Its still mission driven which I hope remains in tact.

Growth teams are assisting each other and collaborating on a positive note.

Hard to say...maybe the cafeteria?

Review from Engineering Dept

Encourage each other and friendly

Review from Engineering Dept

Large company and a lot of opportunities to find something you enjoy

Review from Engineering Dept

It's pretty average compared to other places I've worked.

Review from Customer Success Dept

The good energy, that everyone is open and welcoming.

Review from HR Dept

Working from home has made is somewhat bearable.

Social Sustainability, Business Resource Groups, Volunteer Time Off, UL University, and our People come together to serve within their Communities. This is very important to me.

There are so many ways to immerse yourself within grassroot based employee activities, corporate sponsored activities, volunteer time off for community based activities...it's not only encouraged but it's what we do so a win-win all around.

Openness to talk to employees

Coworkers are nice and willing to mentor

CTL culture was great, but UL is slowly chipping away at it. CTL veteran employees had sense urgency and pride in the quality of work. UL is focused on pettiness and style, but forgets the customer expectations and priorities.

Mission driven culture drives the team daily

Friendly environment where people really want to help keep others safe through the work that we do each day.

Review from HR Dept

all working with the same vision and mission

Review from Engineering Dept

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Burn it all down and redo it.

Higher management listening to all levels of employees.

Senior Management needs to stop talking trash about other Senior Managers and begin listening to their teams and working towards solutions to solve problems. It's like a reality show at the moment.

New CEO that understands the pulse of the company, management restructure to provide more salary for the staff that's actually doing the work, less micromanagement, more competitive pay and benefits

Just treat prople as humans and stop the Woke stuff

Review from Engineering Dept

Replace the CEO with someone who is more experienced, professional and neutral instead of the extreme left political bias.

recognize the value of employees, actually listen to suggestions for improvement and clients

Review from Sales Dept

Lower level management needs to see their staff as people, not just money generators. It would also be nice if all groups across UL implemented the same policies instead of leaving things up to 'managers discretion'.

Review from Engineering Dept

Treat and reward people fairly. Reward execution versus philosophy. Increase compensation for underpaid employees. Provide more mobility, transparency and flexibility for younger colleagues. INVEST IN PEOPLE MORE!

Review from Product Dept

Real actions, not assume things are ok, go make them ok

Review from Operations Dept

Management needs to be more realistic about what team members can actually do. They should listen to middle management when they say we are being pushed too hard. Upper management has the attitude due whatever it takes to get the job done. If that is 12 hours a day and weekends, so be it.

Review from Finance Dept

a realistic view on what can be achieved/executed with the limited resources provided

Review from HR Dept

1. A modernized compensation structure with significantly more openness to the topic of financial compensation 2. An acceptance that experience and years are not the most important parameter to determine if an individual can be promoted 3. City-Centered office spaces

Stop having meetings and sending company-wide emails about taking care of your mental health while also asking us to be available 24/7 because "we're a global company and we need to make our goals."

Hire more people, fire the ones not meeting CBS level expectations

Review from IT Dept

We're stuck in the 80's when it comes to competitive wages, our facility is very miss labeled in defining our job titles and pay, our Upper Management needs retrained or replaced do to their lack of good work ethic and inability to communicate with employees, we are drastically shorthanded too

Review from Customer Support Dept

Is difficult to see a change if the people does not believe that we need to change and start doing things different. Maybe if the people start looking that the comments shared on the last year survey have been taken seriously they will start believing that they can change

Review from Engineering Dept

Empower local leaders, avoid micromanagement reduce bureaucracy.

Review from Business Development Dept

Show actions of people hiring the best candidate and not just to fill a D&I block. Use the Rooney rule for sure, but stop holding our hands when managers need to hire someone. Also, we know we are a safety company. Let's stop this happy safety moment REQUIRED for each meeting and focus on work

Review from Customer Success Dept

Being less cramped and reducing the noise of testing by moving the testing away from others trying to work.
