Western Governors University Environment Employee Reviews

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

My team is positive and uplifting.

Smaller teams can be positive and productive..... if you're lucky. Restructure + RTO has eroded communication and logic across larger teams. It is more cold and corporate than it used to be.

My team has can be counted on for help

The only positive is my team

Everyone is supportive and informative.

Very mission-driven organization. I feel good about the impact I am making on our students. I also think WGU invests in employee development by providing learning opportunities to employees.

I love everything ... using the cultural beliefs and Learning Principles every day helps keep the WGU positive culture alive. I love sharing it with my students and others!!

Review from Customer Support Dept

My teammates, inmediate leader, and their supervisor are amazing. I love my students!

Work at home with meetings on teams.

It's positive and negative. I work there because I enjoy supporting and encouraging others. This is not what is valued by management.

I get to work from home.

I absolutely love the people I get to interact with everyday! I have the BEST coworkers and manager! I'm able to work remotely, with flexibility and autonomy to manage my own schedule.

The encouragement and focus on personal development and self-identity.

The culture can have toxic positivity. Teams and departments have their own culture which vary from fun and supportive to untrusting.

My direct manager is awesome.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Be consistent, reliable, transparent and honest

Upper leadership needs to respect and value their employees better or the mission will suffer

Top heavy senior managers are sometimes mean to save their own tail

Higher level leaders either need to be replaced or they need to start making changes to actually live up to our vision and values. Toxicity comes from the top, so it needs to be addressed first before any true changes can be made to improve morale, trust, and performance.
