Executive Bio

Mr. Shane A. Sanders has been Senior Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis at Verizon Communications Inc. since March 2015 and served as its Senior Vice President of Internal Auditing since September 2010 until March 2015. Mr. Sanders served as Staff Vice President of Auditing Services for Verizon Wireless. Mr. Sanders was responsible for leading Verizon's internal audit function responsible for providing assurance relative to risk management, governance, operational efficiency and Internal Controls. From 2001 to 2008, he served various positions within the Verizon including executive director of financial reporting responsible for SEC reporting, Sarbanes Oxley Compliance, financial reporting, accounting research and policy and month end close. In addition, he served various other leadership roles including Director of Merger Integration and Director of Business Efficiency focused on driving process improvements and efficiency savings throughout the business. Prior to the merger, he served as the Corporate Controller for Airtouch Paging in Dallas, Texas. There, he directed a multi-functional organization responsible for implementing financial and reporting processes throughout the organization. In addition, he held various financial roles with increasing levels of responsibility within the retail, manufacturing and entertainment industries. Mr. Sanders started his career with the accounting firm of Grant Thornton, LLP. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a membership with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors. He holds an MBA from Rockhurst University and a BS degree in Accounting from Oklahoma City University.
