How employees describe working at XPO
From my first day, I have felt supported. I've been given opportunities to own projects and advance my career. My colleagues are great to work with and we don't have to manage through a lot of politics.
Help build local office, bulid large book of business. Passed up by under performing rep multiple times for advancement. Was offered advancement, accepted then told that management didnt have authorization to make original offer

How are layoffs handled in the Operations department at XPO?
Top Employee Response
The company I had been working for all of a sudden came to a decision to close down, a lot of workers left not knowing what’s next the company posted signs saying they will not give employees severance for numerous reasons, & stated your reason had to be good in order to receive it, they start placing employees & job locations that doesn’t fit the employees schedules to which they had at first stating that the job is already filled, it’s so many hard working employees with children that sacrificed so much away time from their kids just to keep the job & to get a smack in the face is like wow!!! It’s like they are pressuring you to accept the placement so you don’t receive your severance package or some employees might have to file unemployment, the hours dropped drastically like never before to the point it’s not enough money to pay any bills, i just hope everyone decide wisely & I hope & pray that everything go right
Like a curb ball. HR department will set up an invitation after hours on Friday evening (around 7-8PM), expecting you to not respond, for 8AM Monday morning. You get a call from both your manager and HR Manager and they tell you that the company went under an organizational restructure and your position was eliminated. If you are laid off. Severance pay is below average (less than a month's pay for 5 years of service) and worse of all, XPO does not allow your manager to give you a recommendation letter nor can you use them as a reference. While employed, my experience was that upper management lacked guidance, mentorship and accountability. Clients objectives are not aligned with XPO's. As XPO's first priority is the bottom line. Therefore, all manager are overly optimized to manage multiple accounts and leaves them less bandwidth to actually manage their subordinates. I will echo what everyone else will say about this company, look for employment elsewhere.
When they don’t need you anymore it’s “bye bye !”
What's the work from home policy like at XPO?
I wanna know myself I think I would love this opportunity
It depends on your role but for the most part it’s nonexistent

Yes and yes
Yes
How does XPO handle HR issues?
It depends on your HRG
They ignore them
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at XPO?
As xpo acquires more companies they forget about that company anf only focus on the big picture and not how much these business units do. Stop laying people off and show some support to the field.
There needs to be 1 Human Resources for the Portland Office, instead of multiple Human Resource groups that are all over the country. If there's a problem, there needs to be a group on site to handle it. Different problems handled with different solutions depending on your off site Human Resource group is causing dissention.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at XPO?
That depends on the position. Hourly workers show up at 8 and leave at 5. Commissioned workers can do the same, but many come in earlier and leave later. This isn't consistent though. Some choose the 8-5 schedule if it works for them.
This last year it was very difficult. I'm glad that I wasn't a Deaconess starting the end of last year. There wasn't anyway I could have handled the responsibilities of Church Activities and work. I know that once the back log is caught up, I will be able to be involved again.
What are the team outings like at XPO?
A few dinners/drinks at bars and restaurants a month all paid for by management.
We've had several. One of the best has been to the Park. Not everyone played games but we all watched & encouraged them on. Lot's of laughter. There have been several meet ups at different Restaurants & bars. Loved the one time we all went out for Coffee or the time we went for Ice Cream. Ready to plan & do more of those.
How's the morale at XPO?
Very high! We're a market leader for a reason and it's largely due to the general happiness and satisfaction of the workers. We are taken care of, listened to, and supported. This leads to results when we show up to work.
That depends on the person. Most seem to be happy and are glad to be working there. Even the ones who know or think they know they're being let go, are working hard & are glad of their time at XPO Logistics. There's 1 that seems frustrated but some of that could be because of what's going on at home.
