From my first day, I have felt supported. I've been given opportunities to own projects and advance my career. My colleagues are great to work with and we don't have to manage through a lot of politics.
Help build local office, bulid large book of business. Passed up by under performing rep multiple times for advancement. Was offered advancement, accepted then told that management didnt have authorization to make original offer

What do people at XPO think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
Sometimes it seems he's too far away and isn't concerned about us at the individual level. He's busy with trying to keep the different groups going. Having the Live feeds help make him seem a real person. That he's not that far away.
What part of XPO's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
XPO LTL is growing the fastest and I've heard Last MIle is having problems. It sounds like there's been missed delivery times and higher than normal damage claims.
What's the interview process like at XPO?
I enjoyed it. There was a panel where each asked questions. We discuss some of the issues and went over actual details. This is my 3rd for this position and it's gotten easier.
What interview questions does XPO ask?
What makes you the right person for the job? With all your time & experience, how are you going to be able to work for someone that hasn't been with the company as long?

It's been a little mismatched, but people at XPO Portland are trying to get some of the old culture back. Helping the community and helping within the company itself.
What's the office vibe like at XPO?
Everyone helping each other. Groups working on projects, figuring out what has worked well and what hasn't.

How's the work life balance at XPO?
Right now not as good as it normally is. I do know it will get better. We've gotten a lot done to get closer to getting back to normal.
How does XPO make decisions around promotions?
I don't know the answer to that question. I was surprised when 3 of us were promoted to Seniors. It was unasked for and came as a surprise.
How's the vacation policy at XPO?
There was a problem when it became possible to start making vacation request again. I didn't know until too late. I won't be able to help my husband this year on the Firework Display. I don't mind that my maxim amount was reduced. I wasn't using it all anyway.
How much and how often do raises happen at XPO?
Raises are about once a year. How much, depends on each person's ability. I've hit the top of my rate a few times over the years & had no raises until the rate was increase. Or I received a promotion.
How's the work pace at XPO?
With the OMS systems, it's Hurry up & Wait..... When I'm on my own, not training, I will have several windows open so I can work on several files at the same times. Trying not to waste so much time just waiting on the system
What's the best part of your job at XPO?
Training others. Answering questions, being able to help others. Being a detective.

Most days, excited about what challenges I'm going to face. I set a lot of my own goals that I want to meet each day & each week. Don't always get there but that's what goals are for. Something to reach for, to stretch myself.
How challenged are you at XPO?
Lots of work. We are trying to get caught up from a back log of unapplied. I have always enjoyed training & have been able to do a lot of it. Everyone knows that if they run into a problem they can't resolve, they ask me. Trying to get everything done in a day, working on the harder stuff because I know how to resolve them. Still finding problems that I can't solve, then I reach out to someone who can.
What unique perks and benefits does XPO provide?
Independence within guidelines to do my work. Management has my back. If I need help & guidance, they are there to provide it. Their door is always open and it's appreciated. Having the chance to put however much into a 401K I want and the matching funds from the company. Being part of the Safety group as an ERT member. Using my skills and experience to help people.
What's the office layout like at XPO?
There is 1 stairwell that isn't easily visible because of dual walls. The one set of stairwell is easy to see because there isn't a dual wall hiding it. I like the way the desk & walkways are set up. The pillars have numbers & alpha listed to make it easy to determine where you are. I do sometimes get confused when getting off the elevator bank as to which side of the building I'm on.

Half and hour to 45 minutes, depending on how on topic we stay.

I was working 50 hours a week. This month we had a breather so I've been working about 45 hours a week. Nice to have some weekends free.
