Best Perks & Benefits 2021

Companies today know that keeping their workforce happy means providing more than just a fair salary. Perks and benefits continue to be important aspects of an employee’s satisfaction at a workplace. Whether it’s providing fully-paid healthcare and daycare or unlimited paid time off and gym memberships, businesses on Comparably’s Best Companies for Perks & Benefits strive to be valuable to their employees in aspects that help other parts of their lives. In fact, according to Comparably data, more than half (53%) of employees surveyed said the wellness work perk they most wanted was a paid gym/health club membership, with massage therapy in second place at 23%.

“While salary is a factor to consider when determining where to work, perks and benefits continue to be an important aspect to employee satisfaction in the workplace,” said Comparably co-founder/CEO Jason Nazar. “The top-rated companies on our Best Perks & Benefits list this year are commended by their employees for caring about the full spectrum of workers’ lives, such as providing a work-from-home office stipend, fully paid benefits, or flexible time off.”

Best Perks & Benefits (Small/Mid-Sized Companies)

Methodology

  • This set of Comparably Awards are derived from sentiment ratings provided by employees who anonymously rated their employers on Comparably.com during a 12-month period (September 17, 2020-September 17, 2021).
  • Rankings were determined based on a series of questions related to perks and benefits (in yes/no, 1-10 scale, and multiple-choice format). The answer to each question was given a numerical score and then compared to companies of similar size. Sample questions include:
    • Are you satisfied with your benefits?
    • How would you rate the perks your office provides?
    • Do your benefits play a part in you staying at the company?
  • To qualify, Large companies (more than 500 employees) must have met a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (500 or fewer employees) needed a minimum of 25 employee participants. For fairness and statistical significance, additional weight was given to companies with more participation from their employee base.
  • There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required. The final data set was compiled from 15 million ratings across 70,000 North American companies.
