By far, best company I've ever worked for. Financially, socially, professionally...can't be touched.
This is the fourth company I've worked for in the defense contracting sector, sixth overall in this field. Radiance is literally the only company I've ever encouraged someone to work at. I didn't like being at the others, the just paid well. I acutally want people to come work here.
I actually do enjoy my job and the people I work with
The health insurance (specifically, the deductible/max out of pocket) is insane! Really happy with that.
They KNOW people. We're not just names or numbers on a sheet of paper. They acutally know us as individuals.
They actually seem to care about people. Coming from a different company a couple of months ago, it's nice to not just be a number or a profit margin anymore.
They're actually worth being around! I genuinely like most of them and people don't seem "pained" to be at work. And most of them are actually qualified for their job, too!
The (mostly standard) 15% retirement contribution! Radiance alone contributed more to my retirement in 9 months than the combined contribution of my previous employer and my own contributions in my 2.5 years there!
They work well together, they get along, they're not overly uptight and high strung and focused on WORK WORK WORK WORK no matter what. They understand that life is more than just work.
The people. It always comes back to the people. From the peons to the C suite, everyone seems to be invested in the work, their coworkers, and taking care of their (our) people.
Salary/retirement are probably the best. I worked for a larger, publicly traded contractor. Radiance gave me a 40% raise to come do the same job. Retirement contributions are...double or triple what they offered. It's crazy
I'm not necessarily excited about going to work because there are always more fun things to do. But I really do enjoy coming to work here because of the people. People genuinely feel like friends here, rather than just coworkers or acquaintances.
They know me. Like, they actually KNOW me. The VP I'm under has, on more than one occasion, stopped by the client site to check on us and to just...talk. How are we doing, how's life, etc. They know everyone's name, they remember things about us all. They genuinely seem to care
It doesn't seem like anyone's focused on "the hierarchy" here. It's not frowned upon for me to have a conversation with my team lead "because they're in charge". Jeff doesn't walk around like he's better than everyone else, simply because he's the VP. He'll talk to everyone and he KNOWS them, too
People on the team are relaxed. They're natural. They're not working in constant fear of losing their job if they don't please the overlords and make them enough money. But at the same time, most genuinely seem to care about the quality of the work, not just getting it done to check a box
They're very "people first." If you're in a position that you're not happy to be in, they'll work with other teams to find a place for you to go that'll be a better fit for you. They're not just going to force you to languish in a position because that's where you're at right now.
Not typically EXCITED to go to work (I mean, it's work). But I genuinely do like the work I do and the people I work with. Would I rather be independently wealthy and not have to go to work? Of course! But at previous jobs I've dreaded going in. I've hated my coworkers. That's not the case here
