Executive Bio

Mr. Diego Piacentini has been Senior Vice President of International Consumer Business at Amazon.com Inc. since February 2012. Mr. Piacentini has been on leave of absence starting from August 1, 2016. From January 2007 to February 2012, he served as Senior Vice President, International Retail, from November 2001 to December 2006, he served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Retail and Marketing and from February 2000 to November 2001, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, International. He was responsible for marketing and retail operations for Amazon.com's Media, Apparel, Sporting Goods, Health and Personal Care, Beauty, Jewelry and Gourmet categories and was a member of Amazon.com's senior executive team. Mr. Piacentini added the U.S. retail business to his portfolio in January 2002, following two years at the helm of the international business. Under his leadership, Amazon.com launched two new Web sites, Amazon.fr and Amazon.co.jp and significantly increased international revenues, customers, product selection and technological features across all international sites. Since joined Amazon.com in February 2000 until November 2001, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, International. Prior to Amazon.com, he served as Vice President and General Manager, Europe at Apple Computer, Inc., with responsibility for Apple Computer's operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He joined Apple Computer in 1987. He held several financial management positions both in Apple Italy and at a European level until 1993. He served as Sales Director for Apple Italy since 1994 and General Manager for Apple Italy since May 1995. Before joining Apple Computer, he held a financial management position at Fiatimpresit in Italy. He has traveled and worked across Europe, Asia and North America. Mr. Piacentini holds a degree in economics from Bocconi University of Milan.
