By the time you and your wife have a baby, you will have 6 days of personal time accrued and about 7-8 days of PTO that you will be able to use. As far as culturally, each team is different and the demands are different. You may be able to work remotely if taking time off doesn't work with the project you are on. Most teams will work with you. Don't bring it up in the interview. This is not information the interviewers will need to determine if they want to hire you. If you get hired, that is when you bring it up.
"Amazon offers a range of fully paid Maternity and Parental Leave options for parents prior to, and following, the birth or adoption of a child. This includes our industry unique “Leave Share” option and a flexible return-to-work program known as “Ramp Back.” Parental options require at least one year of continuous service by the date of a child’s birth or adoption placement." http://www.amazondelivers.jobs/about/benefits/
Yes, Amazon has an excellent paternity leave program. I think it’s six weeks paid. Teams and management are highly supportive, I’ve been to several baby showers for new/impending fathers. Many proud papas will bring their new little ones into the office to show them off.
policy is you must be with the company for 1 year before taking time off. your team might let you swing it, but my team made my colleague use his PTO.
It's fine, depends how much 'much' means. If it's a couple of weeks should be fine. It also depends a lot on the team you're joining.
You will be eligible for paternity leave.
