They are kind yet firm. They let me grow with me feeling like a failure.
They are good to the employees

Excellent store manager who does everything she can to help us and fight for what we need
The Leadership Team was young and optimistic. Unfortunately, for me, no one told me when I was hired that as a customer service worker, I would have to clean the restrooms. I am a 65-year-old-retired-teacher. With COVID-19 raging, I couldn't clean the restrooms so I was let go after two weeks.

They expect too much from a small amount of staff
The leadership team need to advocate for booksellers a lot more. The pressure of membership sales being directly linked to how many hours an employee receives, causes people to leave the company. The leadership team is extremly cliquey, making associates uncomfortable and targeted.
Being reasonable about their goals
the team needs to be completely removed and replaced.

Communication and.suppoetive decision making to achieve operational and sales goals
Holding managers accountable for inconsistencies and complaints
Everything is good. They work fine.
I like the 30% off all store items benefit
For a Part-time position, the package is good

The benefits that I get.

I like the pay-for-performance component, where I can make more based on doing my job well and effectively. It's motivating and we have fun with our goals.
The lack of hours make me feel undervalued and underpaid. If the pay was significantly higher, I could understand lack of hours. However, this isn't the case
Low pay vs industry, poor benefits, limited PTO and no sick time
I am paid $12 an hour to shelve, clean, help customers, and work the register. Hapf the time the people helping me aren't patient with me.
if we were treated with respect like any human deserves, that alone would increase the quality if work we do.

The leadership skills, level of education and competencies i bring to the table are far more valuable than what i am paid.
They are usually high energy and positive.
Working together and supporting wveryone
Very pleasant work relationships within the store.
They bring out a positive energy that both other employees and customers can feel.
Everyone works so well together and knows when its time to work, and when we can spare some time to have fun. We are always laughing and supporting each other.
Being kind and patient to others.
My coworkers should work on communicating more effectively with one another and creating a more positive, encouraging environment as opposed to a competitive one where your worth/success is based on the number of magazines or memberships sold in a given day.
Communication skills. Coworkers talk too much about personal life which shouldn’t be allowed in a working environme
Review from Sales Dept
It was a terrible environment to work in.

Its more of the upper management that I have a problem with.

The team is the best part of working at Book a Millions.
LGBTQ feels safe here. It's a safe place. Everyone belongs.
Its mostly positive, but some pf the managers can come across as unkind and rude.
The employee discount is the only positive thing I can think of right now. The culture is mostly pushing for metrics and getting told we should be grateful for any pittance that they give us for a raise once a year.
My coworkers, being around books and talking about books with people.
Review from Sales Dept
Pay better and dont lean on a certain political side. Move inventory around faster. Update the systems to make it easier to help customers out.
We need harsh rules on communication and personal life of what can be said and shouldn’t be allow

For managers to accept BAM is not their store. That we should follow what BAM says not how this manager likes it over this one.
The company needs to become more customer minded. We build relationships with these people and get them to come back time and again. Forcing employees to exploit this relationship by making people force a gamestop type tactic on the customers is embarassing.
Review from Sales Dept
More fairness amongst employees. Hire better people
Review from Sales Dept
They are nice at first.
It was a straightforward process.
I liked when it was over
The manager was friendly and humorous
Review from Sales Dept
Thorough and behavioral based and lengthy
Call back more quickly is the main thing
Really try and get to lnow the people youre hiring.
it all depends on who interviews you. So its not a standardized process.
Review from Sales Dept
Make the questions asked more meaningful and not waste time.

Being around books and making customers days.
Day-to-day achievements. Meeting deadlines. Knowing expectations and personally taking responsibility for fulfilling each task.
My associates, and speaking to like-minded people
getting positive feedback from customers and coworkers
The people I work with
the entire management team at my store needs to be changed. they are negative towards guests and towards us employees
Review from Sales Dept
Management is low. Wrongful accusations that dont fit the work environment
company has to start caring about employees not just how much money they make
See the before mentioned comments about building relationships with our customers and employees. Don't be like gamestop.
