I have been working at Build-a-bear for about a month. At first I loved the job and everything with it. It barely felt like work. My manager is not good at their job and I don't have enough space to go into details with 300 words.
What did you like most about the interview process?
They made it fun and comfortable, while also asking the needed questions.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
My specific leadership team in my store is great excluding the actual manager. I think more check-ins at specific stores would make things run smoother.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
I get along great with most people, although some are less reluctant to make work friends. The children and adults who come in make the job worth it.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My assistant manager, and one other bear builder are the only two coworkers besides me that put in the work that they are expected to. The others treat it as an unimportant part of their day and like they couldn't care less about the customer and their experience
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
I am part-time. My manager does not give proper breaks, does not let us go home if we feel sick, goes on her phone in the back during rush. Turnover rate for workers is very high, and three people have quit in the past two weeks alone because of said manager.
