Your job evaluation and the opportunity to get new leads is not based on your skills or your ability to do your job. It is based on your appearance. Management does not want to see you suceed unless you have a pretty face for them to look at all day.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Management needs to learn to proactively handle problems they have with their associates. Intentionally withholding opportunities of growth is not the way to address a problem you have with an associate.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Small town gossip has no place in the work environment. Gossiping about the appearance of your employees to other employees, especially management, shows that the true intent of management is not to have successful associates, but instead to have pretty faces to look at.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Management needs to evaluate the SKILLS AND ABILITY of their employees and not their appearance. If management is accepting of men with unmaintenanced beards and hair, then why should women not be allowed to embrace the beauty of their natural hair as long as it is kept presentable.
