Overall gander Outdoors is a good company. I work with some very awesome co-workers/assistant managers. There needs to be a better focus on teamwork, but other than that .... I am satisfied with my job.
What makes you most happy at work?
I really enjoy the interactions I have with my customers.
What are some of the best things about your team?
I rarely work an opening shift so I am rarely present at store meetings.
What did you like most about the interview process?
I thought is was good, I went in told the truth and pretty much got the job.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
I am part time so I do not have a benefit package. It seems like as part timers we are not worth as much as full timers to the company
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
in truth the atmosphere cam be quite stressful when the store manager is there because his demeanor puts people on edge. however whenever the other assistant managers are there things really are much less stressful and flow much more smoothly.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
My manager is not in any way a people person. He uses intimidation, and disrespect as a means of communication. As a store we have lost 30+ new hires in a year. Less than a month after these individuals were hired. Many are fearful of retribution of termination so they don't voice their concerns.
