What's the vibe like in the HR dept at Gartner? How many hours are you working?
Great company culture. 40 to 45 hours
The vibe is fantastic. Not only are we doing rewarding and exciting “best in class” work, but we are more laid back and humanistic than other HR departments. We’re tight knit and highly collaborative. Hours are flexible - I’m a morning person so I work 8am-4pm. Others work 9-5. I never work overtime, even in busy season!

How's the leadership on the Sales team at Gartner?
Location is key. The leadership was lacking transparency and felt like a dictatorship. Leadership would discuss other peers discretionary details and micro manage with numerous reports. At times, preparation for meetings with leadership would take 4+Hrs and, with no notice, cancel or no-show for the meeting. Personally, I had 6 weeks were my manager did not show up for one on ones or account planning. My peers felt their time was not valued and I witnessed several people ‘managed out’. The work itself was rewarding however, not enough to overcome the leadership style.
Upper management is very solid, focused on Growth and Retention with more focus on Growth. They are heavily processed oriented and executing a plan they have in place.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Gartner?
Nothing really. It was a completely different company when I joined 10+ years ago. Very well managed. All this has changed.
That their services seem inherently biased.
