General Motors Outlook Employee Reviews

What makes you most happy at work?

Most coworkers are fun to work with

Reconitiion of good work by collegues

When machines run right and people do what they are supposed to makes my job easy

Being able to make positive impact with relations involving the field, dealers, and customers.

My current job is relaxed but it took many years to get here, but it does gets fast paced if everything is happening at once.

Work life balance and inclusive culture

Getting things done and making sure the people that work under me are doing okay.

The end of the shift! I love my job! I love knowing that I help build that product. We take pride in our work and GM needs to take pride in us as hard working individuals. Give a fair contract.

The people i work with

The department and the plant in which I worked. The teamwork in which I was apart of and the part that I played in building the GM products.

My projects and team mates

Review from Design Dept

Freedom to make decisions and decide the way I will work

The thing that makes me happiest is being allowed to do my job without constant micromanagement and supervision

The work enviorment in the best

I think the skill set I brought forward during the interview process was only a part of the package I came in with. I've managed to develop more data science skills at my job than I'd anticipated, and I'm very grateful for it.

Working with my peers as One Team towards a common goal and seeing it through successfully.

Great group of team players

Review from Operations Dept

I love my job. Learning and watching cars get build

All of my coworkers, and all of my things I'm able to succeed at.

Working with my team and learning something new!

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

The only leadership that gets hired are people that can be easily motivated to lie cheat and use people to benefit their own careers.

Review from Engineering Dept

a clear strategy, fair treatment, development opportunities are all important issues which are unfortunately ignored by top executives.

Review from HR Dept

even though they ask for feedback, they basically ignore what you say

Review from Finance Dept

Corporate greed and outsourcing to mexico

Review from Operations Dept

90% of managers are cronies that are operating out of their league. I'm not sure how to fix the problem if the people that are responsible for fixing the problem are also cronies.

Review from IT Dept

Feel very unappreciated and unfairly compensated for my work.

Review from Engineering Dept

Company seems to be on a downsizing trajectory.

Review from IT Dept

Bad middle management, upper management aren't interested on really hearing from workers. They believe the happy picture that middle management paints.

Review from Engineering Dept

Managers make decisions based on race and not ability to get the job done.

Review from Engineering Dept

The higher ups need to give more respect to the workers

Review from Operations Dept

Better leadership and less “yes men”. Bosses need to know when things are out of wack and going wrong and be ok wit

Review from Engineering Dept

Plant closures need to stop. Corporate greed is running the business.

Review from Operations Dept

Being forced to work Saturdays, make weekend work optional

Review from Operations Dept

Value your employees, and they will be your greatest asset.

Review from Operations Dept

Get rid of so many meetings they are pointless and meaningless nobody likes them hire a management team that care about important issues like quality and not about numbers

Review from Operations Dept

invest in US jobs and show the workforce you care about the workers and families here in the USA and not about taking any and every opportunity to ship good jobs to foreign countries..."TAKE CARE OF US AND WE'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU"

Review from Operations Dept

GM needs to show its employees they value them I used to be so proud to be GM/UAW but that’s long gone It’s not the company or values I hired into

Review from Product Dept

There's way too much to discuss on this topic and no where near enough room to type it out. Just know, there's a lot of big problems and no one seems to want to do what it takes to fix it.

Review from Product Dept

With the plants closing in the US that doesn't make for a happy work force. People here are over tasked. You can't focus on quality when you are doing the work of 2or 3 people. Stop focusing on the shareholders and take care of the people that take care of you and the corporations.

Review from Operations Dept

Need better job security and better management

Review from Operations Dept

What do you like best about your company?

Benefits, people and flexibility are great.

Salary and benefits, nothing else.

Everyone is approachable, down to earth and convincible

Large Scale

Review from Engineering Dept
