Guitar Center Claimed Company
"We have always known that our success comes from our people, but to put it through this lens, we want all our associates to look left and right and see themselves, knowing that Guitar Center is a place where hard work, good ideas, and culture thrive. What they hear from leadership needs to reflect this vision. That means a diverse collection of men, women of all backgrounds and experiences at all levels of our organization. As candidates consider Guitar Center, we want them to know this is who we are and they will feel welcomed here. That’s how we will continue to stick around for another 40, 50, 60 years."? - Ron Japinga, CEO, Guitar Center read more

Guitar Center Environment Employee Reviews

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

We are all friendly with each other

We are all musicians and I love music.

Being around incredible musicians every day is an absolute joy. Guitar Center is transforming the way we do business and it's an exciting time to be with the company. There's massive opportunity to try new ideas, take risks and drive growth.

The store associates are the only positive when it comes to culture

Absolutely nothing. The only culture is grief. Nothing is ever good enough. Morale has never been lower.

The most positive would be employees teaching and growing together of all ages and all origins for one love, music. If you have a side job or a gig, your schedule can be very flexible. The longer you stay the more you learn and learning at Guitar Center, nevertheless, working there can be very fun.

Everyone is kind and nice

Good team workers make the day.

Coworker supporting each other day to day, holding each other up.

Music, light hearted attitude with most people, bringing joy of music into peoples lives, employee discount.

Review from Sales Dept

That everyone there loves music.

The kindness and the joining

The positive thing is we all play music and can talk about stuff we're all interested in and we vibe good together

Great Leadership on our immediate Supervisors.

Working together as a team

People are excited about what we do

Interacting with students and their parents seeing a student grow with knowledge of their instrument

The mutual passion for music shared by everyone who works there and conducts business with the store.

We get gear to people who need it

It is very diverse and relaxed and everyone gets along.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

"Company Culture" is irrelevant to employees who feel hated by their company.

Invest in your people - keep upper management out of all day meetings so they can assist their people.

Treat your employees like human beings

New Senior leadership, especially a new CEO that actually has a passion for guitars and has a proven track record that cares about the business.

Can't go to the bathroom without taking a ton of flack for " not being at your desk " for even a moment

The company needs better leadership and what's important and what isn't needs to be reevaluated.

Review from Sales Dept

The office needs to treat the field with respect. Furthermore the leadership needs to change. Literally everything in the company is managed through negative reinforcement. There is a culture of call out. The people at the office protect themselves by blaming the store fire their poor decisions.

Review from Sales Dept

Experience in management abilities, not freshmen managers makings drastic financial decisions.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Incentivize kindness, and enforce a culture that does not require employees to work more than 45 hours per week. But currently, the company culture seems more interested in grinding people until they quit due to exhaustion and frustration.
