What's the Engineering team like at Help Scout?
Helpful. And everyone has a high degree of ownership, empathy, humility, and of course excellence.
They are some of the nicest, friendliest, and talented cross-functional engineers I've ever worked with. There's no such thing as "that's not what I do".
High quality. Super open. Not one person on the engineering team has been anything less than happy when collaborating on work. They're a fun set of colleagues to work with.
What's the vibe like in the Engineering dept at Help Scout? How many hours are you working?
I work more than my 40 contracted hours, but it's because I love the work so much. There isn't an expectation to do this, but I do, because I want the company to succeed.
40 hour weeks are the norm, not the exception!

They are open to feedback and act on it.

We're remote, so wearing a shirt when on a video call is basically it :)

My boss is very hands off with me. He understands how I like to work and he leaves me to it, but he's there when I need something - our relationship works perfectly well.
What's the pay like for Engineering roles at Help Scout?
The pay is very good, but more importantly: totally fair. Employees are paid similarly across the board, regardless of where they are situated. I've known other remote companies hire from 'cheaper' countries, in order to pay lower wages. This isn't the case with Help Scout!
