Hobby Lobby Outlook Employee Reviews

What makes you most happy at work?

When we are working as a team and not against each other and the clock

Having a plan of action and completing the task

Being able to interact with some of the customers but overall the employees

Their are no positive traits that make me happy at work.

The customers are the best most days.

Merchandising and making displays in the store.

When i stay in the frame shop and no one bothers me

My customers and the people I work with

Getting something anything right and noticed for it.

People that are excited to buy our product.

When I am able to work under one of the co-managers and not the store manager

The team that i get to work with minus management

Review from Operations Dept

Getting to help customers and providing employment for associates

Helping customers with the many projects they have . I love figuring out how to come up with a solution that works for our customers . I can always find some way to help even if we dont carry the item they are looking for.

Review from Sales Dept

The people that I work with.

My department is my favorite place to be, I love fabric and being able to talk the the cute little old ladies that come in. You should see how excited they are when i ask them for sewing or quilting advice. They love that the youth are taking an interest in sewing.

Helping others complete their projects

The friends I've made. And well my old main job was truly something i was proud of. I took pride in it, until they demoted me because i was unwell during a pregnancy. They didnt call it that, but it soon became a true demotion when i returned from maternity leave and wasnt given back my title

Having Sunday off to attend church, staying busy

I really like interacting with customers. I love the positive environment

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Our management staff needs to be retrained. Treat us like we have no value.

Management hasnt any people skills. They bark at the employees because they cannot deal with their own stress. They dont deal with problems they themselves created regarding the animosity felt.

First off, to much stock in boxes on the store floors, makes it difficult to move through the store and gives a messy appearance

First...the registers must be changed to scan items instead of putting everything in by hand and memory. Everything would move smoother and quicker. The biggest complaints are about how slowly the lines move. Also better organization on product in the warehouse and on the floor. Too much.

Review from Sales Dept

Managers reprimand workers in front of the customers. Customers complain about CSMs treating cashiers badly Its all widely accepted within the management culture at hobby lobby.

I think having outdated methods of running checkouts hinders, and sets up staff for failure. I understand the purpose of it all. But Hobby Lobby does not allow scanners to be used on the most basic of items. Most times departments aren't on the item, and cashiers typically don't know where it's from

Conflict in cash office and rules followed by all not just some

Sale pages need to be more transparent and easy to translate

It comes from the top if you not willing to help your people who work for you from the meanest around them how can they be nice to customers

Poor management, letting full timers push people around, not addressing the problems when brought to managers attention

Singling out employees and threatening to fire them. Forcing employees to stay against their will

For the management and start fresh with a better attitude and more compassionate person

The lines are always crazy, we need more cashiers, but then frame shop needs there three girls, seasonal needs at least 2 closers everynight and it has one if that they come in way at 5 so the department has been thrashed all day

Review from Sales Dept

Be Christian based with your employees

Nothing to my nature okay

Change the antiquated model for rural areas. Never will work in large cities,

Review from Sales Dept

Treatment of employees is poor, if we're supposed to work as a team that should involve management. Scheduling is poor and stores are understaffed, management should take coverage into account when looking through applications, not just if the store has hours available.

As Stated Before. Management as well as Some Coworkers effect the Mood in my Store. It used to be pretty Positive, Not so anymore.

Review from Sales Dept

Start regular schedules for employees. Not open close open close schedules. Increase pay severely. Put management under extreme servailance.

Review from Sales Dept

Management and policy are so old and disconnected from the world.

Review from Product Dept

What do you like best about your company?

Work environment and civil responsibility.

What would you most like to see improved at your company?

Pay raises for individuals versus "company" wide raises. Company has no format in place for employee reviews, input, feedback; there is no pay raise implementation in tact other than for full time employees or "management" positions, sub par employees should not get paid the same as exceptional ones

Hobby Lobby's Outlook is scored a D by 1949 employee ratings based upon answers to questions such as “How confident are you about the future success of your company?” Hobby Lobby's Outlook score negatively contributes to their overall culture score, due partly to the fact that the Customer Success department’s negative scores cause Outlook to be one of Hobby Lobby's weaker culture attributes amongst employees.
