Interactions with the students make it positive

Truly a cult-like atmosphere where "radical candor" was a fancy word that was thrown around but did not apply to leadership and their interactions with you only your interactions with others. Also, never expect a prep and you are expected to stay an hour after each day, 2hrs once a week, + wknds.

No communication rude supervisors unorganized

  • They pay more than average schools, however, based on how much they want you to work, you aren't paid any more than other employers. Bonuses are setup so that you will rarely see one unless you eat, sleep, and breathe, KIPP.

  • The IT team is great, however, the the upper management above that is lacking in leadership skills. They know how to manage and tell people, but they do not know how to lead.

  • Phone is about 30 minutes, first interview 1-2 hours, Panel interview 1-2 hours. If they require you to submit work, it will depend on how long it takes for you to create the required documents.

  • The interview process was too lengthy. They state it is to ensure they are getting the best quality candidates, however turnover averages about 25%, yearly.

  • KIPP spends too much time with the interview process. We lost 25% of our candidates simply because they were hired by another system before we were able to finish the interview process, or provide them with an offer in a timely fashion.

  • It varies from person to person, but most are geared towards simply how you would address issues they are currently experiencing such as managing student data, implementing Student Information Systems, Analytics, and teaching philosophy.

  • I met with HR rep for the phone interview, then on the first face-to-face, the hiring manager, then on the panel interview the ED & COO. It took 3-4 months to get an offer, then another 2 weeks to negotiate salary.
