there have been so many years in the last 10 years where there is no merit increase and promotions. At times the merit budget is way to low comparing the market meaning it may be good for US market but same might not be true for other asian countries.

Being a data company we really lag behind in using the position to our advantage, maybe already too late. There are arbitrary rules - 'back to office every day'. Salary not growing for years while inflation is rampant. Offices and positions outside the US basically don't matter / exist.
