Executive Bio

Mr. Kevin Walsh serves as Chief Technology Officer of Asia Research and Development Centers of Oracle Corporation. Mr. Walsh is responsible for developing Oracle's long-term strategy for business growth in China, known as the 'Golden China Initiative'. Mr. Walsh directs Oracle's centers for technology R&D in China, Singapore, India, Australia, Japan and South Korea. He founded Oracle's China Development Centers in 2001 and has since expanded Oracle's technology innovation network to the entire Asian region. His team is focused on creating new software technology and industry solutions to address the specific needs of Asia's rapidly growing regions. His current work includes projects centered on Grid Computing, Digital Cities, Open Source Software, Ubiquitous Sensor Networks, Embedded Systems, Social Networking, Learning Technology and Life Sciences in partnership with key stakeholders in industry and government throughout Asia. He has been granted several patents for his inventions of new software technology applications. Mr. Walsh has more than 20 years of Asian business experience. He led Oracle's systems support and technology marketing divisions from the Oracle Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore. Since joining Oracle in 1988, Mr. Walsh led the development of many of its key strategic programs. While working at Oracle's HQ in Redwood Shores, California, he was responsible for managing the relationship with Oracle's Global Alliance partners in North America, Asia and Europe. Mr. Walsh contributed to the development of several of Oracle's technology projects including web infrastructure, Very Large Databases, Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Database Systems, and Server Appliances. He pioneered Oracle's efforts in Linux and other open source technologies and was responsible for the release of the first Oracle database software on Linux. Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Walsh was an Information Systems Architect with McDermott International. There he was responsible for developing global management information systems and databases in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He is a board member of the Oracle Education Foundation and an advisor to some of the top Universities in Asia and the USA. Mr. Walsh is recognized as a visionary leader and technologist amongst his peers in Oracle. He is a frequent speaker on future trends and emerging technologies that have impact on business and society. He has worked in numerous countries and enjoys addressing complex, global challenges involving new and innovative applications of advanced technology. Mr. Walsh received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Orleans at New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Walsh received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
