Q&A With Panera Bread Employees

Asked to all employees at Panera Bread

  • I wish I would’ve known that we weren’t allowed to clean anything while wearing gloves according to “protocol.” I also wish I would’ve known how incredibly understaffed they were and how I would be responsible for several different positions simultaneously. Dishwashing has no interacting but is also gross.

  • Attempt to avoid customers. Dishwashing is by far the best position, seconded by baking. These positions have almost no customer interaction, and you can listen to music with both of them. I was a dishwasher for a year and I could listen to music for six hours and subconsciously wash dishes- and get paid for it. Awesome.

  • How much weight I would gain from eating so much bread!!

Asked to all employees at Panera Bread

  • I applied online and got a call back the next day, i had an interview 3 days after they called me, it’s been 2 days since my interview i haven’t heard back yet.

  • I personally finished my interview and the general manager asked when I wanted to start right there and then. Panera's always desperate for employees because everyone quits after like two weeks.

  • They’ll hire you on the spot if you meet all the requirements. If they say they let you know if you got the job. You probably didn’t get it.

  • HR was one of the only good things about working at Panera- a girl was groped in the cooler while I was there, and the man who did it was fired within the day on the word of the girl. Full points.

Asked to all employees at Panera Bread

  • Quite easy, asked only standard questions. Interview was probably ten minutes top.

  • I can't speak for any other Panera's but the one in Auburn Maine is where I interviewed. The Manager was in a hurry, he seemed like he wanted to get it over with. Other places I have interviewed, they seemed more involved in the interview.
