Petco Interviews Employee Reviews

What did you like most about the interview process?

Quick and straightforward process. Application was easy to follow

Being able to meet the team, see the store, train a dog.

The interviewer was very nice and asked very important animal care questions

Review from Sales Dept

It was relaxed and the questions were basic interview questions.

They have prepared questions to ask

Group interviews help to see people's personality

Quick and easy to get things going.

It was thourough and they were polite.

My interview was eons ago but new hires now have to deal with so much miscommunication from management.

I interviewed eons ago, but new hires struggle with managers that don't communicate!

How fast the process was completed.

They gave me a chance to start my career as a dog groomer. They will invest in you, send you to a "grooming academy" or a mentorship, and get you certified to do the things you need to do. Their program can admitably be a little too short, but the reat of the knowledge just comes with experience.

The feeling of excitement to know that I would enjoy going to work

They treated me with such respect and openness

Despite a change in management, everything was very timely

Some of the questions were good

It was 21 years ago when it was a FUN company to work for

Review from Operations Dept

The manager that hired me was great. She told me everything and was open to work with me.

Im not sure, it was just a basic interview, other than asking questions about specific things.

Not very structured. Get to know the real you and just sets expectations

Review from Operations Dept

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

No one in store cares about customers.

Interviews vary from one person to next

Hire good General Managers with a very strong and outstanding background in managing and communication along with knowledge of marketing, inventory and animal care. Coach them on their shortcomings and pay them well enough for them to care.

Require background checks &call references

Hiring people looking for a career in grooming. Not just people who have been around animals. Looking at a history of working somewhere longer than a year. And not just hiring because you “liked them

My start date was moved a couple of times.

More streamlined and not so bueracratic. Someone whose never even been in my store making decisions is not great.

Need to be told if your the throw around person with the schedule after bein promised certain one. To be asked if you like fulltime instead of just being put in as assuming its ok. When wotking partime and in school.

Screen for actual good candidates rather than higher anyone off the street who shows red flags.

Review from Sales Dept

Be nicer and less easy. They let anyone in

Review from Sales Dept

First off, my interview was small. It seemed like the manager didn't care about my abilities and care for the animals

Review from Sales Dept

Less of a middle man.

Review from Operations Dept

Check experience levels, have 1 person that knows policies train..
