I have loved everything about the work experience at Pilot so far. However, I am still deeply unhappy about how I was treated when I signed my offer with regards to compensation. The company seems unwilling to discuss the location issue despite my numerous attempts to have a discussion.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone seems to be happy with the work they do. It is a very collaborative culture and people are generally very easy to work with.
What makes you most happy at work?
Constantly learning new things about startups, finance, and different business models. I also love the feeling when the work I do leads to objective positive results for the customer.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They are highly experienced and seem well-equipped to manage the company through economic cycles. The fact that they have previously run bootstrapped startups gives me confidence that they can be disciplined with capital.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone is very kind and great to work with. Everyone is very intelligent and highly motivated. It really feels like we are all on the same team and doing our best to improve our operations as a whole.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
My compensation is significantly lower than my peers in New York /SF because of my location (Austin). Less than 80% of NY/SF is not even close to market for Austin. I was re-traded on my offer at the last minute after turning down other offers because of my location. I still feel cheated by it.
