What skills do you need to be successful in the IT department at SAIC?
You really need to understand programming and basic logic, but in general most jobs are menial documentation; no hands on type work seldom.
How are layoffs handled in the IT department at SAIC?
You are offered to burn any PTO you have and welcome to search Google as you exit.
How are the career growth opportunities on the IT team at SAIC?
They talk as if you can move up or diagonally as you wish, but I've asked to move diagonally 8 times in 20 years and it's not happening with anyone I've seen, meaning, it's not just me personally.
How can I get hired at SAIC as a recent grad?
Offer to work really cheap and dont ask about benefits.
What's the vibe like in the Design dept at SAIC? How many hours are you working?
Some people like to work long hours supporting the project, which is necessary to make up for the ones who chronically take long lunches and leave early because they think salary means they can work whatever hours they like.
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at SAIC?
Pretty standard. Interviews by multiple people who apparently decide on their own questions.
What's the best part of your job at SAIC?
I enjoyed working with the customers.

It was on a precipitous decline.

They actually try to discourage it if you're a good employee. They don't want to lose you because they know they won't be able to back-fill the position.

How poorly their management team relates to their employees.

Disjoint and inattentive to the workings of the organization. More concerned about their own career and how they are perceived by corporate management.

Disorganized, lacking in sufficient skills, unwilling to learn new skills or perform required tasks unless submitted to them in writing. Not the best or the brightest, just filling a slot in order to bill the government.
