Saks Fifth Avenue – HR department is completely negligent. Could not get an employee number for over four weeks of working and was unable to clock in and still cannot get my time recorded. I guess they think that they can hire people and not pay them. No matter how many times I reach out and asked in person or email | Comparably

What did you like most about the interview process?

Was quick but that also means they are not really looking into the people they are hiring which is why there are so many employees that really should not be there anymore

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

People are generally rude to their equals and even their higher-ups. It seems to be the company culture because nobody ever tells people when they are inappropriately speaking to another employee or their boss

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

The merchandising is out of date. Management is inept compared to other department stores and sales people are stuck up to the point that they don't even help customers or straighten their departments. This is exactly why people are happy that Nordstrom built a flagship in New York City

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Workers and customers are stuck up because they think that shopping or working at Saks is some great claim to fame even though the company is completely going downhill in every sense of the word. Work environment is so disgusting and small that you're constantly having to bump into people

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

they need to actually train their employees and have clear standards of operation. Need a proper work environment and need to make sure that people are properly on boarded and therefore getting paid. I was hospitalized and rather than taking any bit of concern I was accused of being unreliable

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

work environment was atrocious and probably would not abiding by fire code. They pay no more than a Walmart or target actually less than companies like that. In the meantime they like to keep bragging about how much money their customers spend and I've seen those receipts so it's true
