Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Scrum Alliance

Sustainability is at the forefront of Scrum Alliance initiatives and we take eco-conscious steps whenever possible. As a remote organization, one of the best ways that we can support sustainability efforts is during our in-person event gatherings with the Scrum Alliance community. Specific actions that we take at each event include eliminating the use of disposable flatware and paper-printed programs, providing on-site recycling options, providing reusable water bottles to attendees, and promoting public transportation/ride-sharing with co-workers whenever possible. Scrum Alliance has also reduced its number of events each year in the place of hosting hybrid events as a further demonstration of its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

Scrum Alliance donated 47 trees in honor of Earth Day this year and gave employees time off on Earth Day to enjoy nature whether that be working in their gardens, going on a walk, or giving back to the community in some way.

Scrum Alliance offers employees paid time off to volunteer in their local communities each year. Scrum Alliance engaged in philanthropic efforts where possible, most recently:
-Donating to Stop Soldier Suicide and matching team member donations to Wounded Warrior Project and Operation Gratitude in honor of Earth Day
-Donating computer equipment to schools in the Denver area

  • The next evolution of agile. Agile isn’t new — it’s a well established concept that’s been widely embraced. But what’s next? It’s time to evolve and demonstrate the value of agility beyond specific roles and frameworks. It’s time to recognize agility as essential skills that empower professionals to drive results and make an impact, regardless of title or role. Because the promise of agility isn't just for some, it’s for any — agile is for anyone.

Scrum Alliance remains committed to creating an inclusive environment, both within the organization and with the Scrum Alliance community. In 2024, we held events that were diverse and inclusive, selecting keynote speakers and panelists from a variety of backgrounds to ensure we promote varied experiences and perspectives. As part of amplifying voices historically underrepresented in agility, Scrum Alliance is committed to cultivating inclusivity and diversity in the spaces we create. As part of that commitment, we’ve partnered with Women in Agile and Agile in Color to amplify essential perspectives at our most recent scrum gathering in New Orleans.,,Scrum Alliance also recently met with members of the Scrum Alliance community to discuss DEI efforts and garner feedback on ways to improve and broaden our impact as an organization committed to DEI. This will be used to create an action plan going into the latter half of 2024 and beginning of 2025. ,,Last, but not least, we also go above and beyond by providing accessibility features such as captioning, a low sensory room, and large print materials. ,
